    Great docking solution

Great dock, especially love the pass through charging so only one cable needed. Could use a few more USB-C ports on the back without losing the USB-A. Audio jack is on the front which is inconvenient when trying to hide wiring. I moved from Dell to Lenovo mainly because it is not USA based company but was disappointed that still shipped from the USA.

Lenovo USB-C Dock Gen 2 — Power, Displays, Periphs

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Looking to turn your laptop into a full-fledged workstation with a single cable? The Lenovo USB-C Dock Gen 2 is a powerhouse in disguise—sleek, quiet, and packed with capability. Power: This dock means business. It delivers up to 100W of power delivery, which is more than enough to keep most Lenovo ThinkPads and other USB-C laptops fully charged, even while multitasking. Forget juggling multiple power bricks—this one dock rules them all. Displays: With support for dual 4K @ 60Hz via DisplayPort and HDMI, the Gen 2 dock makes external displays feel native. Whether you’re coding, designing, crunching numbers, or just bingeing a show across multiple screens—everything looks crisp, and performance stays smooth. Bonus: it works well even on non-Lenovo devices thanks to standard USB-C DP Alt Mode. Peripherals: Plug in everything. 6 USB ports (including high-speed USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 and USB-A 3.1 Gen 2), Gigabit Ethernet, a combo audio jack—it’s built to be your desk’s central nervous system. Fast data transfers, stable wired connections, and zero need for dongles. One Cable, Infinite Clean-Up: Seriously, plug in one USB-C cable and boom—your laptop is charged, your displays light up, and your keyboard/mouse/whatever is ready to roll. It’s the ultimate antidote to cable chaos. Verdict: Whether you’re on a ThinkPad, Yoga, MacBook, or anything USB-C Gen 2 compatible, the Lenovo USB-C Dock Gen 2 is the dock that delivers. Power, displays, peripherals—this device is absolutely for you.

ThinkPad Universal USB-C Dock installation and use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The documentation for the ThinkPad Universal USB-C Dock has a numbered diagram which shows the order of connecting the cables to your computer, the dock and your electrical outlet. Number 1 is the first connection, number 2 is the second connection, number 3 is the third connection and number 4 is the fourth connection. The light on the dock is amber at first and then turns to white when you have completed the installation of the dock. After this go to Lenovo Vantage to see if there is a software update to the dock firmware. If there is an update, install it. The dock works perfectly. The installation was easy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works as described. old Thinkpad can only get 2k monitors in at 1080p which is a bummer. Everything you would expect from a higher end docking station. I think it rivals other brands I have used in professional settings despite the steeper price tag. Wish they had more information on the video band-with on the site for what resolution you can get through for this product. I am using a dual 2k monitor setup or a 2k and 1080p monitor in all my situations. May just be time to buy a new thinkpad…

And then it goes dark again, without any movement whatsoever. And *everything* is brand new. The hub, the Lenovo laptop, the extra monitor, the HDMI cable. Not sure if I will keep it

He can connect his monitor, computer, gaming, etc. It has a large number of ports for a variety of products. It even has an ethernet connection in case wi-fi is slow or not working. This will be great for him to have in his dorm room while at school.

I can hook up to my monitors at work and utilize my workspace as a desktop or I can disconnect and bring my laptop with me on-the-go or work from home when my presence isn't required on site. It allows me so much freedom to work how I need to any given day, I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Dock won't recognize ThinkPad X1 Carbon

    1 out of 5 stars
    originally posted on lenovo.com
Purchased this USB-C dock because my Thunderbolt Dock stop recognizing my X1 Carbon after a BIOS update. First the dock stopped recognizing some USB ports, so I plugged the USB devices directly to the ThinkPad. Then the dock stopped passing video through DisplayPort, so I plugged a HDMI cable directly to the ThinkPad. Then the dock would stop providing power to the ThinkPad, so I plugged my ThinkPad directly to an AC adapter. Then the dock stopped providing Ethernet, soI got an adapter and plugged the Ethernet into the adapter and into the ThinkPad. At that point the dock was useless. Another BIOS update did not fix the issue, so I got this new dock. Same problem. The first time the dock worked perfectly. Then it would stop recognizing USB ports, then it stopped providing pass-through power, then video, and then Ethernet. This dock is now useless so I returned it.
