After one year I got popping and static sounds. Now a few months after that the sound drops out and just isn’t right. For that first year it was great but definitely not worth the money. I enjoyed my last soundbar which is why I went back to lg. Will change brands in the future.

It might sound good, but this was one of the hardest devices I have ever had to install. Not only does it NOT have a light to tell you if it is actually on but the little booklet isn’t clear about how to connect to your TV, and the phone App doesn’t seem to help at all. It took ages, and then “suddenly” it was connected. How terrifying when you feel challenged enough to screw things to the wall for that “huge” TV the wife wanted, but then this add-on was causing way more problems that the TV. I started to ask myself if we really needed this black box, when the new TV had better speakers anyhow. Maybe I have been spoilt with the new technology for yet simply fed me the codes and next steps, but this process was way “below” what I have become used to when I buy new electronics these days. Sorry guys, but you do need to do better for us clunks!

Bought this less than a year ago and am now constantly getting the power noises and static someone else talked about in their review. Total waste for the amount paid on this soundbar.

Definitely noticeable during dialogue. I ended up purchasing the LG S80. Totally rocks! Much better than the SPD7Y. And it was more expensive but I am happy with the purchase! I love that I can Bluetooth my phone to the sound bar to hear music without having to turn on the TV! Good bass sounds too!
Now I've got real sound!

Installed this with a new LG TV about three weeks ago. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to hook up - pretty much plug and play. Sound is fantastic, thinking about adding the rear satellite speakers in a bit. I thought the LG TV sound was good by itself until hooking up the SPD7Y - what a difference: more richness, nice bass, etc. First experience with using an ARC-E device, really like the easy install and one remote capability. Between this soundbar and the LG TV there are SO MANY options that it can be overwhelming to sort out what you want. I've been happy with most of the out of the box settings - clear voice really helps us older folks understand some of the dialogue that can be muddled with foreign accents, and generally poor diction on the actors' parts.

I purchased this LG soundbar thinking it would enhance the audio experience from my new 65” smart television. I was terribly mistaken and very disappointed with this under powered weak bass soundbar! The audio output is marginally acceptable for average tv programming but, it fails dramatically when it comes to viewing movies! No adjustments to the soundbar audio outputs improves the sound especially the bass. If you enjoy listening to powerful booming, thunderous bass while watching action packed and/or science fiction movies take a major pass on this soundbar! The bass frequency is hardly noticeable regardless of the settings. This could be attributed to the smallish subwoofer and low wattage rating of this soundbar. Going back in time and knowing what I know now I would never ever consider purchasing this soundbar. Save your hard earned money and purchase a soundbar system with a high wattage rating and a high wattage rated subwoofer, you’ll be glad you did!

I brought the SPD7Y to replace an older Bosed 3-2-1 which subwoofer no longer worked. Efforts to fix was to no avail. The SPD7Y was very affordable and the sounds it produced are outstanding considering the price. I checked out the other LG sound bar and this was the sweet spot for purchasing.
Mind Boggling and intriguing with high expects.

The soundbar makes all the difference in my TV watching experience. The TV is great but the speakers are lacking. Also, I plan to mount the TV above my fireplace and feel like the soundbar will be necessary.

I think of myself as tech savvy, but I could not get this soundbar to work correctly. It was paired to my LG C1 OLED and settings were still ridiculously complicated. I use the apps directly from the TV and every time you switch between streaming sites the sound is completely off. I couldn't watch a movie because I was spending the whole time trying to set the TV and the soundbar settings to work correctly. Don't even get me started on switching HDMI signals and sound settings. RETURNED SOUNDBAR TO STORE!

This replaced an lg soundbar purchased 2013 that apparently had stopped working. Maybe this was due to a WEBOS upgrade but I will eventually find the answer.

You only get a very basic manual with the system. There was no online manual available for this product either. There is an app that you can download which I had to find out on my own about, as there was no reference to it anywhere. I got the rear speakers as well but they didn't work well, which is why I wanted the manual. I ended up calling customer service to get help with it and they were not at all of any value in helping me. They were just reading out of the same useless manual. In the end I just returned the rear speakers and gave up. The sound bar itself works and sounds good but I wish I had surround sound.
