Cannot assemble. Defective Allen Screw.

1 out of 5 stars
G-UNIT - 4 months ago
originally posted on MGA Entertainment, Inc.
The bike came with a defective Allen screw that secures the handlebar to the frame of the bike (see photos). The screw was too big to fit into its housing. As a result, I cannot assemble this bike so I will never know how well it performed as a balance bike. Failure to launch. Do NOT buy.

My granddaughter loves it!

Just bought this balance to pedal bike and my granddaughter loves it. My only challenge was that it arrived without its assembly instructions. It was challenging to read the instructions using my cell phone. A video helped and I finally got it done (I know; I should have printed them out first. I was impatient to get it done.) I found the assembly to be challenging so it took me about an hour to assemble. Someone else said it took them 10-15 minutes. I didn't know how much force to use to attach the wheel and handlebars to the bike frame. The video looked like they slipped in.

Pedal to seat position too close.

Bikemom - 10 months ago, Verified purchaser
Take a look at how close the pedal is to the seat. Trying to teach my son to ride on this bike is honestly unfair. He's gotten it but even though he's a small 4 year old the seat position is so close the pedals he has to raise his knees up to his elbows to pedal it! Poor design. The pedals clicking into locked place is also a pain, as other reviewers mentioned. I wish I had read the reviews before buying. It's not worth it as it will cause undue frustration on you and your child while learning to ride. Spend more and get a better experience. It's worth it for their confidence and your sanity.

This is not a good bike. I had high hopes, but it's been nothing but a headache. The back wheel does not rotate, which is kind of a problem for a BIKE. It's a total waste of money. I now have to buy a balance bike that actually works.

The pedals only rotate if they are unlocked. Every time my child rested the bike on the ground, it would lock the pedal which became very frustrating for both them and us as unlocking it isn't the easiest and a child definitely cannot do on their own! There was also something off about the placement of the pedals - almost like my child had to lean forward to get feet on pedals as they were slightly too far back. Lastly, after only ~2 weeks of use, the seat wouldn't stay up with the hardware provided. At this point, we returned the bike and are purchasing a more traditional pedal bike.

Left pedal broke midway - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
The pedal came off middle while cycling. I expected the mechanism to convert balance to pedal bike should work . But we just converted to pedal 2 times and then the pedal broke from from middle and the spring is missing from the left pedal. Dont know how to replace the pedal now.

The back wheel locked up no matter what we did to try and fix it. The pedals were also in the same place rather than one higher than the other. I had high hopes for this little bike but looks like we will just go with a normal kids bike instead.

Jbean - 3 years ago
It's way too tall for my 2 year olds. As in, even if we kept it another year to next summer, I don't think it would fit them. Yes, my guys are a bit on the short (overall small) side, but I really don't even think it would work for them at three, so we won't be keeping. We will be getting something smaller, a 10" wheel as opposed to this one's 12"

Purchased this as a present for my autistic nephew. He likes it, especially because its green -- like dinosaurs. Cannot get him to sit on it to push the bike with his feet. He pushes it and he runs beside it. Wish it had training wheels I could have purchased separately.

This bike is WAY too heavy for a 2 year old or even an adult to carry. The fold up pedals was a good idea but it was not executed well at all on this bike. Bought it today and taking it back today

The idea behind this is brilliant -two functions in one! but unfortunately it doesn’t do well at either. Balance bike: is very heavy and difficult to use as a balance bike Pedal bike: the pedals click and come out so they can rotate. However, my son is constantly bumping the pedals and then the pedal locks so it doesn’t rotate while he rides. The ratio of the tire spinning to pedals rotating is 1:1 so it takes a lot of work to get the bike moving. My son has to pump his legs so fast and yet the bike is going so slowly. It wears him out and also just makes balancing difficult.

I originally liked this. We purchased this because it was one of the smallest pedal bikes without training wheels we could find to transition our toddler from the strider balance bike. He took to it quick but the pedals broke on day three of use.

Better for older kids

Bought this last year for my (then) 2 year-old, who really liked bikes. It was too big and heavy for her then, so we put it away for the winter. Just got it back out today. My 3 year-old is 38" tall and 30lbs, had her measured at the doctor on Tuesday. The rear wheel of the bike gets stuck and she has trouble pedaling. She also bumps her left leg on the bar that the pedal is supposed to attach to, and she complains that it hurts her. She really doesn't seem to like it, even though she's get interested in riding a bike.

The weight is insane for toddler use. This is not a lightweight bike by any means. The idea and function are nice but the bike itself is far too heavy for them to easily learn to maneuver. Selling ours because we hate it so much.
