A: We used two 50 pound play sandbags from Lowe’s and filled it up the perfect amount! You could probably add a third but we did it when it overfill it

Terrible Product

Terrible product. Used to be one-piece and work perfectly, the new one is total garbage. It barely fits together, and once it does it falls apart immediately. There’s no way that it would ever hold sand, let alone water.

I had this same sandbox 4 years ago for my two older children. I noticed when I purchased it month ago that the bottom of the sandbox is no longer one whole piece. It’s made with 4 pieces that snap together, but the pieces won’t stay put together. I would return it but I threw away the box it came in.
1 reply from Little Tikes Expert team - 8 days ago
The retailers requested a smaller box so it would fit on retailer shelves.

I grew up with the old school turtle sandbox and I loved it as a kid. I decided to pick this one up for my kid & it resulted in loss of sanity, 1 hour of assembly, and my kid running out into the road twice. This thing is a nightmare to assemble. I read the instructions. I watched the video. I’m convinced that the person who designed this new style doesn’t have children, has never seen a child, has never seen a children’s toy, & has no concept of how a sandbox works. A once simple 2 piece design now turned into the equivalent of assembling at 700 piece LEGO Millennium Falcon set, but from Temu, so the pieces don’t line up. Four quadrants make up the bottom, with one screw on the rim for each piece and the rest of the seam are allegedly clip in pieces. They don’t line up properly, they definitely don’t stay clipped in. The head is a cheap 2 piece that you have to just loosely hang on the edge of the sandbox. The lid was a little more secure than the bottom, which is wild to me since the weight of sand sits in the bottom, not the top. After an hour and a meltdown, I finally get the thing somewhat together to find out it’s like half the size they use to be. If I would’ve know all of this ahead of time, I would’ve just bought an old school one off of someone locally for half the price.
Flimsy- made me uncertain about using

Its flimsy, the parts do not stay in place securely and i was too concerned about the kids getting easily pinched - decided not to use. Cute idea tho! Wish it was less flimsy.

I love this sandbox, so cute. EASY to put together and very STURDY. My kiddos will have so much fun with this all summer. Definitely not junk or trash. Worth the price.

I have a sandbox that I bought for my 4 year old and LOVE. It’s heavy duty, like the one I had growing up, and can be used for sand or water. I’m in Texas and bought a second for my 1 year old to use with water, thinking the cover would be great to keep mosquitoes out. I was unpleasantly surprised to find that it had been ‘improved’. I really wanted to still like it but got more and more upset as the assembly progressed. Cheap plastic that does NOT easily ’click in to place’ as advertised. Even when screwed together, the tabs come apart. If the sandbox is going to cost more, it needs to be the same quality or better. This is terrible. Little Tikes should be embarrassed to sell so disappointing! I returned mine the same day and will be trying to find a solid one. Ridiculous!

We bought this for our grandson. It is thin, flimsy and would not stay snapped together. The lid is even worse. Terrible quality for the price. Looking for the old style where they were one piece and didn’t break apart.
The Absolute Worst.

Wow was assembly was a complete pain! It took forever to get the pieces to line up. We expected it to be MUCH bigger given the box it was in.

The was a royal pain in the butt to put together. I started questioning my own intelligence. I wish it was still one molded piece for this price. Let’s see how long it holds up, I do t have hope.

Made well. We put pea gravel in it instead of sand and our son loves driving his trucks in it!
Too many parts to put to gather!

This was so diffuse to assembly. Do not recommend. It came in eight pieces shape parts. I recall when kids were little in the 1990’s this sand was one solid piece and sturdy top shell the kids could stand and climb on when closed. If gran child does that now it will collapse!!!

Save your money. Don’t buy it. Flimsy. Clunky assembly. Small. Not like the original. We contemplated just throwing it in the garbage can after putting together 3 pieces. Totally disappointing.

Disappointed grandma - 8 months ago
I would give this zero stars if I could. What a piece of junk. Very poorly made. It’s flimsy comes in pieces to put together. The pieces are difficult to snap together. Bought this for my grandson‘s first birthday and will be returning it and finding something better. This is nothing like the original turtle sandbox when my kids were little.
Blown away by how poor the quality is

My husband and I just bought this tonight for our son. Assembling the bottom pieces was extremely difficult because they weren’t just “popping” into place and making it difficult to continue screwing everything in. Just sad that the quality in Little Tikes toys has gone down since I was a child.
