Neben einer Vielzahl dekorativer Künste befassten sich die Künstler der Groupe de Saint-Luc in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts mit sämtlichen Bereichen der Glaskunst. Sie erfanden traditionelle Methoden von Ausdruck und Technik gewissermaßen neu und modernisierten sie hinsichtlich Komposition, Stil und dem Einsatz diverser Materialien. Neben traditionellen Kunstformen wie Bleiglas und Hinterglasmalerei entdeckten sie andere innovative Prozesse, wie dalle de verre und Glasmalerei ohne Bleiruten. Inmitten dieses Panoramas werden weitere innovative Aspekte behandelt, von der Bedeutung des kreativen Prozesses, der in grafischen Arbeiten zum Ausdruck kommt, bis hin zu wirtschaftlichen Themen, die Einfluss auf die Baustellen hatten. Dieser Band bringt bislang unbekannte Dokumente ans Licht und bietet eine neue Sichtweise auf dieses kulturelle Erbe.

Parallèlement à une vaste frange des arts décoratifs, les artistes du Groupe de Saint-Luc ont investi tous les domaines des arts du verre durant la première moitié du XXe siècle et au-delà. Ils réinventent les modes d'expression et techniques traditionnels en les modernisant par la composition, le style ou l'insertion de matériaux variés. En plus d'arts traditionnels comme le vitrail au plomb et la peinture sous verre, ils découvrent d'autres procédés innovants, comme la dalle de verre et le vitrail sans plomb. A travers ce panorama varié, des aspects novateurs sont abordés, de l'importance du processus créatif traduit par les oeuvres graphiques, aux enjeux économiques qui conditionnent les chantiers. Cette recherche met à jour des documents souvent inédits qui offrent un regard nouveau sur ce patrimoine.



About the Author



Valérie Sauterel, art historian and research associate at the Vitrocentre Romont since 1990. A specialist in stained glass from the late 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, she has drawn up an inventory of stained-glass windows in public space in the canton of Geneva. Since 2019 she has been responsible for projects on the "Groupe de Saint-Luc" and the historic stained-glass windows in the public collections of the City of Geneva. She also works as a research assistant at the Hahnloser archives in Fribourg.

Camille Noverraz, art historian specializing in sacred art and contemporary stained glass. In 2022, she completed her doctoral thesis on the "Groupe de Saint-Luc" and the revival of sacred art in the first half of the 20th century. Since 2015, she has been working as a scientific associate at Vitrocentre Romont, Swiss Research Center for Stained Glass and Glass Art, where she is undertaking several research projects and inventory work relating to stained glass and religious art of the 19th to 21st centuries.
