We didn't want a light that was overly bright but we also didn't want one too dim. The glass diffuse plate at the bottom of the light helps to create a very soft comforting atmosphere.

We installed this fixture in a bedroom and it works really well for that setting. Installation was straightforward and like other fixtures we have installed. The height of the shade is about the length of my hand so it doesn't hang down too far which is perfect for the spot we put it. I love that it gives lots of light from four bulbs but it is diffused into a soft glow through the room. It makes the room feel bright and cozy. The brass frame crossing across the bottom is a stylish accent that sets this fixture apart. The glass gives it a nice finishing touch. This is a beautiful fixture with high quality design and materials. We are very happy with it.

I just love this beautiful white and champagne bronze combo fixture. It gave that classy look and matched my room decor too. It needs 4 light bulbs. I would say it is perfect for bedroom only because I see the volume of light is not too much. The white fabric shade design around the light is stopping the light to pass thru. Though we use higher watt LED bulbs it’s the same. It’s kind of dim light experience. It is exactly how much we would need in a bedroom. Installing is pretty easy and quick. Good size for master bedroom. Quality is excellent.

It was fairly easy to install the mounting bracket, base of the fixture (I did the smaller size first, this one was so much easier!), glass circle, shade and mount for it. I'm currently waiting for additional proper sized bulbs to be delivered, but with just one bulb currently it puts off as much light as my old fixture did! I am so very thrilled with this new fixture. I installed it in the foyer by my front door, and it gives enough light (when I tested it with four bulbs), to set a nice ambiance for when I don't want the bigger brighter lights on in the living room. We weren't a big fan of the dated style (2000s) and always hated how harsh the 2-bulb fixture's light was first thing in the morning. The Kichler Malen ceiling light really surprised us. A stylish, 4-bulb fixture that softened the light while providing plenty of it, what you need taking a shower first thing in the morning. Everything about this fixture embodies the polished design you'd expect from Kichler and the black metal uprights really complete the piece. We actually waited a couple weeks to submit this review because we weren't sure how we'd like the gap between the fabric shade and the glass. It really grew on us. The gap provides this unique light accent that elevates this piece from other ceiling lights. Installation was simple and took 30 minutes removing the old fixture and installing Malen light. This is a high quality light fixture, so it has some weight to it. Ensure the fixture box you're mounting it to is very secure to avoid an unleveled gap between the ceiling and the fixture. We highly recommend the Malen ceiling light to anyone looking to add a stylish accent with medium intensity light to their space.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really well made flush mount light fixture. It is very large so do not buy without measuring very well. I would say this may not be a light for beginners for that reason. It is a very stylish light that I think would go in any room and give it just that extra detail to make special. I would love this light in any room. It is a bit confusing to assemble with not a super detailed instruction manual that I would prefer but a well skilled professional would probably have no trouble. Like I said this is very large and would need a rather large room to look good and it really gives off the light that would be overwhelming to a small room. I have 12 foot ceilings and large rooms so it is perfect for me. I love the matte black detail against the slightly off white shade. And the shade is fabric and the light comes with a white covered glass piece. Overall I am satisfied with this light and think it really enhances the room.

It can go with almost any theme you have going on! It gets off great light, nothing insanely bright or ridiculously dim. This IS a flush mount style light, so placement is key with this one, haha! I loved it after it was installed but when you turn it on it gives off a really unique glow to the light that looks so warm and pretty. The gold color is very modern and nothing like the 80s fixtures we used to have. The installation process was very simple but the directions did not specify which side of the glass should be displayed when you look up. I chose the side that has a little bit of a blueish tint instead of the stark white. It turned out great and gave off plenty of light even though the bulbs are enclosed. It gives off vibes of a modern luxery hotel when I look at it. Great line of lights from Kichler to update my home.

The only struggle I had was getting the mounting plate screw holes to match up to the ones in our new build. It’s a great size for a normal sized room, fits perfectly. We are using it in one of the kids rooms which isn’t a master bedroom size. It gave the room just the perfect touch and character. I love the way the lighting is now too.
