Q: What is the distance between the 2 pieces that create the grooves on the sides for the larger dumbbells (the space between the 2 pieces that hold the grip part of the dumbbells)?
submitted by T Gia - 1 year ago
A: Hi T Gia - Thanks for your question! The distance between the two pieces on the grooves is 4" on the Marcy Dumbbell Rack. I hope this helps!

I bought this almost 2 years ago, and it is holding up great! The top shelf holds 2 15# and 2 12#, with a 10# on each top end shelf. My 20# and higher would probably fit on it as well, but my lower shelves have lower weights that fill that up, and where I have it, it would be a bit awkward to pick up heavier weights on the end shelves below the top level. It's too big for anything under 5#, and almost too big for the 5# (bottom shelf).

Unless you are lifting pastel colored lightweight dumbells, you are going to be sorely disappointed. This is WAY smaller than picture, not very steady and if the weight is more than 15#, good luck.

Much smaller than I thought it would be. Can’t hold heavy weights . Good for smaller hand weights. I’ll still use it bc I already assembled it and I’m too lazy to take it apart and return it
Great for Small Spaces

Easy to put together. Holds both neoprene and metal dumbbells. Some racks can’t hold the shorter neoprene weights but this one can. Small rack makes it easy to fit your space.

it doesn't hold all types of weights and isn't completely sturdy, a bit shakey. overall I'm happy with it though, fits our needs

Easy to put together and sturdy. So far no problems and I have over 162 pounds in weights on it. Only issue is the width of the Rack is a little to wide for some of my weights to sit properly.

I bought this to hold all my neoprene weights. Imagine my dismay when NONE of them fit on the sides of the rack. The rack is too wide for any standard size non-metal dumbbell. Check the dimensions of anything you plan to put on it against the dimensions of this rack. The sides of the rack are useless to me, since none of my dumbbells fit. They don't fit well on the top either, since it is also too wide, so they are not stable and are slanted on the two rails. If I could take this back to the store, I would, as it is pretty useless and just taking up space.
Great buy!

Great price! I thought the material would be thicker which would make it sturdier but its not. Even so it works great for my dumbells and holds up perfectlly. I even have a set of 25lbs and 20lbs dumbells on it. I have no problems with it and it was super easy to put together.
For weights, not dumb bells!

The rack is substantially built. While it has limitations as to how many weights it can store, it is ideal for small groups who have limited exercising ability. Our small exercise group found it a space saver and a way to access their weights without damage and with quick identity.

It is a nice rack for a small amount of weights. The weights with the metal middle fit on both the side and middles, however the bigger neoprene weights (8 pounds and up) only fit in the middles. It holds 2 sets of larger weights in the middle on each bar and 4 sets on the sides.

Was easy to assemble but the screws didn't go thru easily Had to use some force and try to hold the screw for one end to tighten it But overall decent size but don't think it is good for 30lb Dumbbells
Good so far

The rack was fairly easy to assemble, although I couldn't figure out how to tighten the bolts more when finished, but my husband figured it out later. So far it's working fine, although I was disappointed that the side notches were not wide enough for my 10# dumbbells. There are really not much bigger than my 8#s, but they didn't fit (I have vinyl dmbls). I like that the size does not take up much space in our small house.
OK for what I need

I didn't measure out the stand, so when it arrived, it was much smaller that I expected. Only two of the really large weights can be stored on the rack, but the dumbbells fit on it just fine. It fits what I need but wished it was a little taller.

Love it once I was able to put it together. All the parts are packaged nicely and are easy to match up. Although the instructions suggest two people assemble, I was too excited to wait for another set of hands to help out, but it was a snap. It arrived with a hex or Allen wrench, so the only other tool you'll need is a small crescent wrench. Hold the bolt on one side with crescent while tightening the other side with the Allen. It's a great home for all the loose weights I've had sitting around the floor between my workouts, and because it's so sturdy, I can add a kettle ball or two to the mix. It's just a cleaner more efficient way to get my workouts on...probably just a mental thing, but I'm glad I have it up and in use. Definitely would recommend to a friend :)
