The Marcy MD-857 is all you need for a perfect workout. Designed for full-body training at home, this surge bench can be utilized to target multiple muscle groups. It allows you to perform a wide array of strength-training exercises that focus on the arms, legs, chest, and core. It features an adjustable preacher curl bicep pad, dual function leg develop with pivot point and locking mechanism, a reverse walk-in squat feature, an adjustable seat and back pad, a detachable bicep curl bar, and akimbo style crutches with diamond striker plates. Bar catches are designed to provide safe and proper workout which its height is adjustable that allows the bar to be reached while in different seat positions. Well constructed bench, great attention to detail on the design as well as manufacturing. Packaging protected the product very well. Simple instructions with all hardware easily laid out for the user to see in the assembly instructions.

For the price its a good and sturdy unit. However, after using for a few weeks I think it would be more useful to have a separate weight bench and squat rack. Unfortunately that model was not available at time of my purchase.

After using this bench for a grand total of one set of bench presses, I noticed that the seat was rather wobbly. I looked under the bench to find that the welds holding the seat to the base had sheared straight off. I was fortunate to have been warming up with just an olympic bar, as if I had put weight on it, the seat may have fallen right off of the bench and caused an injury. The entire seat structure is held up by this one piece of thin box tube with a thin plate welded on. I have done a bit of welding myself, and the welds were done incorrectly. In addition to that, this part should have been welded on all four sides of the box tube instead of two. I doubt Marcy has any kind of quality control or safety department. Assembly took a few hours as others have said, and I was able to assemble it in its entirety by myself. Unfortunately, I now have a gigantic unusable weight bench sitting in my room. Customer service has not returned any of my calls - the only communication I have received is that the part is on backorder. Do NOT buy this product.

I have been using commercial exercise equipment for years and so its not fair to rate this compared to them. So far I have liked this for home use. I would have to say though I am 5 feet 11 inches tall and if you are much taller than that this bench may not fit you well? I have also been a welder fabricator and machinist for years so as far as the construction of this bench it is pretty good but could be better with some changes. The only thing at this point one thing I have noticed is the welds are not the best. Other than that I am pretty much happy with my purchase.

Pretty solid bench and I enjoy using. I have a couple of small gripes. First, the seat is wobbly and second the perches can sometimes get in the way while benching. But I can live with it.
