[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We selected this desk to use as a computer and homework station for my son. The box is heavy and I had hoped that the entire desk, except for the legs, was assembled inside this massive box, but that was not the case. There were a few times when putting the piece together that I made a mistake in which side was which and had to go back, take it apart and redo it. That was easy enough. It appears as though this must have happened to others because there is an orange insert in the packaging warning you to follow that one sheet when you came to that part in the instruction booklet. We figured it out and got the thing assembled even though I have to say that it was a bit more of a roll of the dice than some Ikea items. At the end of the day, I ended up not installing 2 of the drawers because we could not get them to line up and close correctly, even after taking off the rail, switching them around, and reinstalling. I have no idea what happened, but I had hit the wall in terms of what I was willing to do to get them to close and decided that it wasn't worth it. I think this was a happy occurrence because it allows my son to simply slide his laptop in and out of the cubby instead of opening the drawer and placing it inside (I mean, I get that it's not difficult to use a drawer and yet a lot of kids won't go through that step). The middle drawer was the one that works and I think it looks great that way. After it was built it looks great, is a sturdy piece, and my son was very happy with it. That instruction booklet could use some help, or maybe just send the finished piece and only require the legs to be attached by the customer. I think that would definitely give you 5 stars and a lot of gratitude coming your way.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I read through the reviews on this desk after receiving it and was hoping my experience with the drawers would be different than the majority. Unfortunately, it wasn't. They definitely are a pain to put together. Luckily, my fiance does these sorts of things for a living, so I put him on the task, and he figured it out when I was struggling. This desk is definitely beautiful and I love how it looks in our basement office area - it's the perfect size for what we needed, and the drawers will be helpful for the bit of storage space we required (now that they're assembled!). Would I recommend it? Hmm... Looks-wise, yes. Assembly-wise. Not unless you have a couple hours to spend trying to figure out the drawers and a great deal of patience. Overall, we like it, but wouldn't get again.

I love the sturdiness of the unit and the slim, sleek design. It is the perfect fit in my home office as I am going with a more minimalistic style due to space. I was a little concerned I would have an issue when the box was delivered as it is solid but the desk is easy to assemble with clear instructions. I have received many compliments on it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Do not be fooled by the Martha Stewart branding....the quality of this desk is appallingly low. It is much LOWER QUALITY than a similar item from Ikea, and much HARDER TO ASSEMBLE. The faux wood laminate is absolutely terrible. It looks like someone took a photo of bad laminate and pasted that photo on the surface of this desk, making the "wood grain" look like dull brown cheap plastic. The entire thing is not really even particle board, it is hard pressed paper basically, although that doesn't really make it any easier to re-drill all the off-kilter holes that are an insufficient depth. You will have a hard time if you think you can do this with just a manual screwdriver because of those insufficient holes being a fraction of the depth they need to be. To make things worse, some of the parts, such as drawer slides, which are supposed to be identical in length, were different lengths (and covered in grease, which gets everywhere). All of the drawers are installed crooked, due to millimeter differences in the holes and the drawer slides. I hate crooked drawers! They should come pre-assembled. The instruction manual is appalling as well. It is full of wrong information, typos, misspellings, and poor quality illustrations that look large, but have microscopic details. And some steps of the instructions leave out key information that you are left to telepathically infer on your own. (I should point out that I am an experienced engineer who has worked on aircraft and satellites, and am very comfortable assembling flat pack furniture, and even I found this assembly to be miserable, so if you are less technically inclined, be prepared for difficulty.) They should be ashamed of slapping the Martha Stewart brand name on this low-quality, garbage desk. For what it's worth, I have seen some reviews that mentioned how high-quality and easy-to-assemble it was, and I can only assume those are fake, because no one in their right mind would call this a well-designed, high-quality item. This is not a well-crafted item.

It is the right size to get things done as far as schoolwork or crafts. However building it was a little bit of a pain. It took about three hours to put all the pieces together, but once it was finished, it looked fantastic. Definitely recommend.
