Description
The salt crystals in McCormick® Sea Salt Grinder are naturally harvested from the Mediterranean. Our adjustable grinder conveniently offers a coarser grind for seasoning meats or a finer grind for dishes like pasta, vegetables or eggs. Sea salt is coarser than table salt, with a higher concentration of minerals for enhanced flavor. You can adjust this grinder for perfectly ground sea salt to suit your taste or recipe. Use coarse salt for bold texture in meat rubs. With a twist, adjust for fine salt to season potatoes, sauces or soups. Keep this salt grinder along with a whole peppercorn grinder in the kitchen, at the table and by the grill for freshly ground flavor anytime. The sodium level in sea salt is comparable to table salt.

This product is a popular choice among guests for its ease of use and versatility in enhancing flavors in various dishes. Many appreciate the adjustable grind settings, allowing for customization from coarse to fine. However, there are significant concerns regarding the non-refillable design, which guests feel is environmentally unfriendly. Overall, this is a great product, but it needs to be refillable. Throwing it away is bad for the environment.

Long time purchaser, but hate the new bottle. The design is awful. It's difficult to adjust the grind & we hurt our fingers every time we try to take off the cap. You should go back to the old design.
Please go back to the old design

Love the salt, HATE the new grinder design. Did you even test it in an actual kitchen with actual humans before putting it on the shelves? Yikes.

The New Design is a Big Mistake

I have loved my McCormick salt and pepper grinders for a long time. But - I hate the new design. The lid is VERY hard to remove and replace. And - I have NOT been able to figure out how to adjust the coarseness of the grind. Very disappointed. If anyone reads this - please post instructions - for the new design - of how to adjust the coarseness of the grind. If I can't figure it out - I will go to the old-fashioned (and more eco-friendly) solution of refillable grinders.

Thanks for reaching out about our newly designed McCormick® Sea Salt Grinder. To remove the lid/cap, there are two dips in the gray area where you can place your thumb under the lid and press upwards. The lid/cap should pop off fairly easily. The grey section below the cap is the part that you twist to adjust the grind. The black part is the grinder. In order to adjust the grind, we suggest holding the black part with one hand while twisting the gray part to your desired grind size. We hope this helps! ~JM

We have always loved this product but we absolutely hate the new bottle and lid. The old style bottle was easier to hold when twisting. The new lid is very difficult to open. I have torn 2 nails (real nails) while opening the lid. We left it off permanently. We're now looking for a small grinder to make our own. The price has gone up too much too. If it ain't broke don't fix it!!!
new design is less functional, potentially dangerous

I don't know why McCormick changed the design to make it LESS functional and potentially DANGEROUS. New glass is smooth and round so it is hard to grip if you've been cooking and have flour on your hands or something. The top part that controls the coarseness is now sharp and tapered. I almost cut my hand trying to turn it to change the coarseness. I will not buy again and caution others. Hopefully, I can find some old bottles somewhere.

About four years ago I bought a wonderful item made by McCormick. It was a "Smoked Sea Salt Grinder." I used it on steaks, chicken, and pork - any meat that my family was going to eat and it was fantastic!!! Why can't l find this item anywhere???? Did McCormick stop making this smoked sea salt? Or is there somewhere that I can get it?

There's something about grinding your own sea salt or peppercorns that feels like old school cooking. My only disappointment was that the plastic top attached to the glass salt shaker can not be removed for a refill. Therefore I don't think I will repurchase.

It’s adjustable, guys! What changes is the size of the granules of salt rather than how much comes out. Also, if you feel you’re getting too much out, don’t grind constantly! Just grind 1-2 turns then shake it and salt comes out for quite awhile before requiring another turn. Then you’ll also have significantly less coming out at one time. I love this shaker! The ONLY downside (albeit pretty major) is that it doesn’t seem to be refillable. I’ve tried everything to get the top off and finally gave up. Hate that it’s going to be wasteful but hopefully they will make that change soon after seeing all of these reviews! Still giving 5 stars because it’s the only salt I use. Makes such a huge difference in flavor for some reason! Love the texture, too. :) even my kids love this!

I bought it as I thought it can be refilled. But it can't. It's even cannot grind and can't come out when the salt becomes wet. I tried to open up but don't know how to remove the cap too. So sad for it.
