  • A: The athletic fit doesn't seem like an athletic fit at all. Contrary to the description it also has a very low rise. I tried on both slim and athletic and couldn't tell a difference.

Q: Since these pants are mostly made of cotton, should I buy a size larger to compensate for shrinkage from washing.

Q: What is the difference between athletic fit and relaxed fit?

  • A: Hello - Thank you for your question. Athletic Fit is a slimmer fit, but with built in room for fuller seat, thigh and calf. It has a smaller leg opening. It will be more fitted when worn. Relaxed fit is not technically offered in Goodfellow brand. Relaxed is all over fullness in waist, hip and leg. The leg opening is larger. It will have a looser appearance when worn. Great all-around chino, but...

These are a great-all around chino that can be dressed up with a blazer and bluchers, or down with a polo shirt and tennis shoes. They wash and iron well, too. However, the sizing consistency is AWFUL. After several returns, I learned I hve to physically try on every pair regardess of the label. There is a large dicrepancy-sometimes nearly an inch in length and 3/4 in waisteline-between pairs that make it near-impossible for me to order online. Also, the fabric has gotten considerably thinner since being rebranded from the Henepin Chino despite going up in price. Still, they're a solid 3.5-3.8 stars out of 5.

These were a big win for my 16-year old son. He's tall and slender, and he needed the 34" length. We purchased the athletic fit, as the slim fit wasn't available in the 34" length. I was worried they would be too big in the hips, as although is very athletic, he is not bulky in the hips/butt area. My son is 31 1/2" in waist and 35 3/4 " in hip and the 34" x 34" fit great with enough extra room in the waist/hip area to make them comfortable. ** The khaki color is darker than what appears on the website - more olive** Fabric is good quality.
