These boots are awesome for wet jobs

I pickup and deliver milk which requires me to be around a lot of water and wet areas . We rinse milk rooms and tanks and my feet and pants are soaked throughout the day. I tried different boots for a few months. Even boating shoes before I came up these. I have a mint green pair, a grey pair and I'm about to start my second pair of black ones which I wear almost everyday. The other colors are just for a change every now and again. But that's how much I love them. My feet stay dry and I can rinse milk that gets in my feet directly with the hose. It's a mix between a rain boot and work boots and it's great at both. The old black ones still have life but the acid wash and harsh tanker soaps at the dairy's and farms have dried out the toe area. But even that took more than a year! These things hold up. Have deep tread, great insoles and I as a daily wearer give these things 5 stars.

Overall, happy with this purchase. Seems well constructed. Let’s see how long it holds up. Only gripes are that the insole could use some arch support and the boot is quite “roomy“. That being said, I did order a half size large.

Do not buy the Apex lace up boot

I have not had any problems with any muck boot except for the apex lace up boot. I bought them online because I couldn't find them in any stores. They are impossible to walk in due to the pinch around the ankle. Been trying to break them In for 2 days now

Hi there, thank you for sharing your experience on this boot. From the description of the issue you're experiencing, we suggest loosening the laces to your accommodate personal fit as best as possible. If you're continuing to experience discomfort, we also suggest trying a thinner sock that covers your ankle for comfort and protection. If you're still experiencing an issue with the fit, and your boots are unworn and in original packaging, you may want to return to try a different product, like our new Men's Outscape Max which has a flexible neoprene collar to help with comfort on the move (but size up on this one for best fit) https://www.muckbootcompany.com/the-original-muck-boot-company/men/collection/outscape-max/mens-outscape-max-ankle-boot/MTSM000.html.

Near cure for the farmer's plantar fasciitis

My wife was concerned about my ailing foot and all the hilly farm work we do here. I loved my muck boots when i lived in a flatter area but the hills were killing my heels and arches. The support of this boot is bar none, like walking on a cloud. The only bad thing is that my sheep dog found the amazing insoles and was able to pull them out and for some reason was crazy about the taste. When I found out I couldn't buy just the insoles. (hope that gets fixed) they offered me another solution. I really appreciate it because these are the only boots I'm interested in now!

Disappointed with this boot

I bought this boot because it was presented as a waterproof boot. My problem with it is when you lace up each boot around the ankle portion of the boot where the eyelets wrap around the ankle, the eyelets put extreme amount of pressure on the ankle making them almost impossible to wear. When I tried them on at the shoe retailer I did not lace up that portion of the boot as I wanted to make sure the boot would fit my foot size. Now I wish I had never bought them.

soaking wet

My feet became soaking wet during my two-hour upland hunt in a rainy field. I believe the boots use open-cell neoprene for breathability, but this material isn't waterproof, leading to water seeping through the neoprene tongue. A friend who has the same boots experienced an identical problem. A huge disappointment.

Good boots

I wasn't sure about these boots because of the reviews but I ordered them since they offer free returns. I needed something waterproof, with laces for an upcoming trip. These worked well, I do agree there is some tightness around the ankle where the laces are but overall comfortable. I am on the slender side. Not sure if that made the difference

Ankle soreness

The ankle soreness is legit. It hurts to walk in the for any longer than 15 minutes. Also, hurts doing any type of bending cause the rubber pinches. It’s a shame cause the boots are very good quality, but a waste of money if I can’t wear them

Picked these up for a winter boot that has some good insulation. A little pinch around the top two lace hooks but not really painful. This will probably go away with some break in time. The rest of the boot is extremely comfortable and warm. Pair with a good pair of wool socks and these things are super toasty and breathable through the neoprene.

Extremely Durable

I bought these boots for a week long hiking / hunting trip in the mountains. Been searching for a durable pair if waterproof boots for years and none hold up. Put 80 to 100 miles in them over 9 days. Extremely satisfied and still use them for hunting because for once someone finally put laces on rubber boots and I feel so much more confident on rough terrain! Nice and light so perfect for long walks and hiking! Break in period was a little uncomfortable at first but didn't take long to get past it and honestly to finally find a rubber hiking boot that finally holds up and is light weight I don't care! Currently have 150+ miles on them and still look like new. Will be purchasing another pair, or two even, before I can't get my hands on them!!!

A design flaw makes for a painful break-in

2 out of 5 stars
redchipmunk - 3 years ago

As per the previous reviews, these boots are painful on the inner ankle. In my opinion, the cause is a design flaw in these boots. There is a significant amount of rubber used for reinforcing in the eyelets. The upper edge of this hard rubber section ends at the start of the neoprene upper. This makes for a hard edge which, when you walk, digs into your ankle on the inner side. As per the other review, I had to wear these without using the upper eyelets as that was too painful. Having discovered this when using them, I was not prepared to throw away the money I had just spent on them, so, I persevered. I have broken them in enough now so that it isn't painful anymore, however, the problem is still there as it's inherent in the design of this shoe. I do not fault anyone for giving up early, such was the discomfort. Perhaps the model of the Apex with the zip might be better as it doesn't have eyelets. As it is, I would not recommend this boot.

Bought a pair for fishing in rain and wore them one time. My ankles were extremely sore by end of day, even after rolling thick socks to cover ankles. The problem is as stated in previous review. Going to take back for refund.

Warm and waterproof but painful ankle chaffing

1 out of 5 stars
Coby - 3 years ago
originally posted on muckbootcompany.com
I just bought these boots and wore them out of the store. They kept my feet warm and dry. I began using them for long walks to work and that is when I began to experience chaffing at the top of both of my ankles. It pain is caused by the poor joint between the rubber and the neoprene. I can feel the seams protrude with my fingers. I have tried; thick socks, thin socks, including good merino wool hiking/ski socks. The only relief somewhat is if I leave the top 2 eyelets untied however this introduces a new problem with heal lift/chaffing. Basically, they are a non starter. I cannot return as now used for 3 days. I don't know if I got a defective pair but wish I had gone with a mid height boot where the seams are higher up the calf. Anyway, I am going back to my trusted Salomon's.
