Q: When you say darken finish is it black or is there some expresso brown in the finish as well?

A: I have 3 different sizes of these lanterns. They are all black without any hint of bronze/espresso brown finish. They are more matte than glossy, if that helps.

These are wonderful lanterns, they are well made, heavy and look great in person. I am also pleased that glass candles can be placed inside the lanterns, so not only do they look marvelous they are practical as well. The color is muted and has a more aged gold tone vs. a bright brass.
