Bought two at the same time. The instructions and packaging were different. What I believe is the new instructions/packaging is much better. As you can see from the images, the old instructions left out a whole set of screws in the description. This initially caused some confusion but it is fixed in the new instructions. The nails also were not sorted in the old packaging and are in the new. You do need your own screwdriver and hammer. Besides that, it's essentially ikea furniture with a nicer finish. If you know the quality of Ikea furniture, you know the quality of this piece too.

Purchased 2. First one had prefilled holes that were about 2 inches off. Using piece from 2nd box made one complete nightstand. The drawer doesn't move along track. I am returning both.

Quality would be good for the price except that the shelf under the drawer was made incorrectly. The finished side isn’t on the correct side so when you finish the product the unfinished side shows. There are also red stickers that come on the wood, the stickers are removable but the red dye on the stickers left behind a red stain on the wood. Also one of the pieces of the drawer came busted. The fabric coating of the wood held it together a bit. But we will have to be super careful with the drawer.

Inconsistent quality. We bought one in store and ordered one for shipping. One was in good shape and the other was damaged even though it was packaged well. Nice size and fairly straight forward assembly.

Overall, has a great look. However, takes WAY too long to assemble and the drawer opens with great difficulty. It opens slightly and with great force will open all the way. Other reviews (which unfortunately I didn't read before buying) say the same thing.

High-quality but incomplete package. I purchased in-store and it was missing the drawer bottom. Customer service was unable to help. Nightstand looks nice externally, but the drawer is unusable without the bottom part.

I just assembled a ton of ikea stuff after a big move. I got this Target bedside table because it looked really nice online and the design goes with a huge cement pillar in my master bedroom. I took out all the items, got the tools (not included) and reviewed the instruction booklet. The instructions for assembling the drawer slider doesn't even match the panel holes and slider holes so I looked more closely at the bad ratings. Only 2/3rds of reviewers even recommend this item again! Many said that not only were the instructions impossible, but the drawer doesn't fit. This nightstand is not nice enough to struggle through this, possibly have to remake it, and still not have the drawer fit. In fact, I would even feel like there was no point in trying to have someone from task rabbit put it together.

I'm a mom who has assembled many pieces of furniture. It seems to have screws and pieces that are unecessarily difficult for a beginner but not impossible. The people who had issues with assembling it were probably newbies. After assembling, the drawer would not close completely and stopped at an inch. But just jiggle and push it and it will close and will continue to work, although not completely smooth. Just the first time it didn't shut correctly. It looks like the photo and there's no bad smell.

So we (my daughter and I for her and her husband) purchased the gray color of this item as it was a close match to a bed that was purchased from NFM. Fairly easy to assemble, difficulties were not the fault of the nightstand. Quality was far above the price in our opinions. Had originally purchased 1 to see how we liked it and hurried back for a second! Its only been a week but they seem quite sturdy. Highly recommend, especially as a starter set for a starter home.
