These are badly designed, mostly plastic speaker mounts that I am very dissatisfied with. They rely on a metal screw threaded into plastic threads, which cannot be tightened because the screw strips the threads when you apply any force. I tried to use them to attach two 4-pound surround speakers to my walls. One speaker is barely holding on, the other was in the process of falling off when I removed it.

My speakers are 8 lbs each. I tried ceiling mounting with the extension and it fell off and gouged the drywall. Then I tried wall mounting w/o the extension. The set-screw just cranked the pieces apart and would not hold. I'm surprised Monoprice supplied this crap.
dangerous garbage

garbage, very loose joints so you cant really point the speaker. the joints are held by a set screw which tends to strip the plastic before it can put enough pressure on the segment its only the set screw holding the setscrew so if the plastic slides the speaker can fall.....i had a 5 pound atmos speaker, that the subwoofer rattled enough that it fell, luckily the speaker wire caught it before it hit my kid in the head....everything was as tight as can be

Screwed Up Screws - Don't Fit Monoprice Speakers

The brackets contain many screws but not the ones that fit the Monoprice "better" grade surround speakers one would obviously use these for. Though other reviews for the speakers warned me, I purchased anyway and regretted it. The threaded insert in the speakers want a machine screw with 1/4" thread diameter with 24 threads per inch i.e. 1/4 -24. Not #14-20 or 1/4-28!!! Moreover, the length depends on the bolt head...shorter if a cap head that fits down in the piece that comes with the mount...or long, if it doesn't...and it can't be too big because the mating piece of the mount has to fit over it. I am very handy and have tons of nuts and bolts all carefully sorted and I thought surely I can make something work. No dice! I had some 1/4-24 but too short. Can't find them online anywhere. Clicked too fast on Amazon and got 1/4-28 which will strip the insert. Lowe's had two different descriptions for the same item number., .one 1/4-24 and the other #14-20...I even called Lowes' customer service...guess which ones I got. The exact size comes up on Google searches only as special order and for like $6+ per screw plus shipping. I wound up using the short ones I had to secure a piece of perforated strap on the speaker, then I used another smaller bolt and nut to attach the strap to the mount...very hokey and took a lot of time messing with it! Monoprice has really dropped the ball here!!! The speakers are actually great for the money. They just need a different threaded insert and/or some bolts that fit Monprice's own brackets. With the parts included, you can drill holes in the speakers and use a different included piece but what if I didn't like the speakers and wanted to return them? Lastly, you really have to crank hard on the screws on the swivel parts to keep them from sagging on the wall...so hard I thought the plastic might crack.
Great way to mount a cube or small speaker

If you are looking for a versatile way to mount small speakers, this is the way. We did an open ceiling set up in a very lively room where everything was exposed. These mounts allow precise directional control, match the color of the speakers, and are aesthetically pleasing. Not our first time and very pleased. Mark A

My 6 pound speakers caused the plastic of the mount to deform and come off. Fortunately they weren't on the wall yet and I was just trying them out in my hand. Monoprice stuff is usually great, but these are worthless junk.
Not a fan.

These mounts are inexpensive, easy to install and adjust. Comes with all the mounting hardware. Monoprice has great customer service and low prices.
Cheap and not sturdy.

Cheaply made. Did not hold up well at all, especially if trying to mount on an overhead or wall. Needed to purchase an alternative mount and this was essentially useless. Also the M6 mounting bolt that came with the package was not standard threading. Had to go to Home Depot to purchase another M6 bolt to fit my speaker threading.
One of the poorest designed products I've ever purchased

First off, the really amazing thing is, none of the supplied screws fit into the mounting hole on their own brand satellite speakers! And I can't find ones that do. They're not M6, and they're not 1/4" Secondly, tightening the Allen screws does nothing to secure the arms. the posts are flimsy plastic. Even with their lightweight satellites, that only was a coupe of pounds, and no extension, the arms sag. REALLY poor

Well, they didn't work out too well for me as I tried them out the speakers the stands were so cheap the plastic broke

Cheap and usefull, but dont use these from the ceiling with the screw mount on the back of your speakers, as the connection point is hollow and will crush under the set screw. The only other option is to use the other mounts that screws into the speaker box itself, as its solid plastic and won't crush under the set screw. I bought a new desk instead of using this. ymv.
4 out of 5 included screws didn't fit my speaker

Works well, holds my speaker in place, I think a heavier speaker a person would have to mount higher on wall or compensate on the angle off ceiling as the adjustment screws likely would not hold. I was going to make a bracket but went with these, even having to buy M5 screws still were cheaper.
