I did a test on these speakers and I'll tell you the results. In a nutshell, these are great little speakers if you're looking to hear detail in a recording. The treble end on these is good enough for me to hear imperfections in my own voice, in the music that I record. I've heard detail, throught these speakers, that I could only hear with my Sony headphones., otherwise. That's quie a statement. If you're looking for big boom on the low end a 3.5" woofer is probably not going to do it for you. However, if you're looking for balanced sound, with very good deal, these little dudes are champions. They are ported, so they've got bass (but not deep bass like a big cabinet and big woofer would give.) Think car stereo, in terms of bass., that would be analogous to these speakers. I've compared these to my M-Audio AV40, the DT3 beat them. I've compared the DT3 to consumer speakers with 4" woofers, and the DT3, again, beat them. If you're looking to do multitrack recording, especially with vocals, there would be a very good choice, as one of your refernce pairs of speakers. The vocal range is very clear, and very accurate. I attribute this to the small woofer. A woofer at that sizek, has less mass than a larger woofer, and therefore can move more quickly, providing more detail. These little speakers are a great deal, for anyone doing multitrack recording.
Perfect at this price point

I'm using the DT-3s as computer monitors. I am triangulating these speakers at about 3 feet at face height, and setting them at about 1/4 volume. They are lovely and well-balanced, with no need for a sub-woofer. I do not hear the low-mid hump some have mentioned. I find the headphone volume (adustable on the face of the speaker) to be an added treat.

I bought these to improve the sound of my TV, not for audio of my computer or to use with a stereo system. They work fine ... their bigger sound is so much better than what comes from the tiny speakers of the TV or a soundbar and electronically manipulating treble and bass. Actually, I keep the TV's speakers on low to balance out the overall sound. The only disadvantage is no remote, having to get up and adjust the volume level because of the sometimes wide variation from station to station, but we don't watch television all that much and it's a good trade-off to just have the sound firing directly at you and not down or back.
excellent value for the money

Although I am irritated that this went on sale literally just a few days after I bought it, decreased by about $30, I have no complaints about the product itself. For less than $100, this is an exceptionally high-quality system, same as other reviewers are saying. I will have to edit my review if it happens to break down on me unexpectedly in the future, but my initial impression is very very good. I don't usually leave reviews, but this is important enough that I want to make sure other people know about this if they live on a tight budget and love music. As the cherry on top of the sundae, the package also arrived several days sooner than expected. The only way I could possibly be more pleased is if Target / Monoprice would be willing to refund me the difference between the price I paid (on 7-17-23) and the current sale price (7-21-23)!
Sounds Great. I love these speakers

2.0 Speaker Set Declutters

The speakers were larger than I expected, and produced a good bass without a sub-woofer. The sound is crisp and clear. The criticism that this set should have treble and bass level controls has merit. The main value of this system is that you can reduce the clutter on your desktop and still get good sound. I give it 4 stars because the price was a bit too high.
Bad resonance around 126Hz

These have an extremely noticeable peak at around 126Hz. If I'm listening to something at normal volume, it can suddenly get uncomfortably loud when this resonance is excited. It's like listening to a neighbor watching TV through a thin wall. Fiddling around with a software equalizer, attenuating a 10Hz wide band around 126Hz by 9dB makes a swept tone sound correct to my ear (that is, loudness monotonically decreases as the sweep approaches 75Hz). Another small issue I've noticed is that there is a barely audible 60hz hum that gets worse when the volume knob is turned down. With the volume knob at max, the hum goes away. It also goes away if I disconnect the secondary speaker from the primary one.

I bought these for my daughter's computer. I have used Monoprice cables in my recording studio. They are better quality than other brands and yet cost about 1/4 the price. So I suspected these speakers would be excellent. I was spot on. They sound great! Mids and highs are crystal clear. As soon as we hooked it up to the computer and did a speaker check, I knew they were good. For fun, we put on the opening scene of Star Wars and we could hear R2-D2's digital blips very clearly. No noise on standby. These speakers are fairly heavy and feel professional. I actually think they do not color the sound much. I am a professional music producer in Los Angeles. Now that I have heard these, I am going to buy a 2nd pair for my recording studio to test my masters (in addition to using my professional near-field reference monitors). I like the small size and mono-amp configuration, which makes them perfect for testing - as most people these days listen to music on mono-amp small speakers (on their smart phones).
Wow!! These Speakers are amazing for the price.

Awesome! Connect two external bluetooth receivers and it will mix the outputs from two phones at ones, no "disable your bluetooth so I can connect" - his and hers!

I put these speakers through a few different tests, and they were great for all of them. These would work great for a turntable setup. Vinyl records sound rich and warm just like you'd want them too. This is originally what I bought the speakers for, so I am satisfied with my purchase. Hooked up to a computer, music and movies sound great. They are pretty well balanced, so dialogue is clear amongst loud action. These speakers stood out to me though for gaming. They provide a wide enough sound stage to immerse you in games without having to wear headphones for hours at a time. I tested them specifically in Star Wars: Battlefront 2, and the experience was great. Overall, I would recommend these speakers to anyone that needs a great set of speakers for under $100 that pack quite the punch for the money.
Excellent budget desktop speakers.

I got these as part of my audio overhaul for my workstation. These sounds great. for $80 they are a really nice clear and impressive set. They are a bit weird of a setup, but they are small enough to be a relatively small foot print on the desk. I lay them flat on their sides so that they are unobstructed sending audio from my ultrawide monitor. These are very good for the price, I was impressed.
