Monoprice ix8B 8-Channel Live Sound and Recording Mixer with Bluetooth, USB, and Effects - Stage Right Series

We're using this mixer to add inputs to our primary mixer. Limited EQ options require careful considerations on which sources to input on which mixer, though, since the more comprehensive EQ on the primary mixer proves more suitable for the necessary sound-sculpting of certain sources (like ethnic drums and percussion) in live sound situations. Other than that, this is proving a very useful (and affordable) way to add inputs to our set-up. Separate phantom power for each channel, if needed, is a surprising plus on a mixer at this price point.

Looks like it would be fine, if you only need mono, but I need a stereo mixer. They do NOT mention that it is NOT stereo...my bad (I had no idea it would NOT be stereo...

At first glance... this mixer looked like it can do lots of things for our events... with USB audio input, built-in effects processor and blue tooth... Basic functionality works... the effects processor did not and it seems to have picked up a TV station. Now let me explain myself... I have been in the Audio Visual arena since 1981, I own quite a few mixers and video gear. I bought Two of these units as they seemed to have good enough features for a restaurant or small breakout session. One event, using basic mic inputs and a powered speaker worked fine... Second event, tried to use the effects feature, No go there. Third event, used it only with one wired mic, 1-wireless and a pc audio patch. hooked up to the venue's sound system it picked up a TV station. BEFORE you say its my mics, I had unplugged EVERYTHING (all inputs) from it and I could hear the TV station. Unplugging this mixer eliminated the TV station. Changing xlr cables made no difference and only when I replaced this mixer with a different one did everything work correctly. Don't know IF these units were defective... but needless to say, I cannot trust them any longer.

6 balanced Microphone inputs, stereo Bluetooth/aux input selection, each channel has controls for delay and repetition (FX), each channel has Bass and Treble Controls. This is a very good first soundboard with Computer connectivity for recording etc.

I would've given it 5 stars for features and value. But it's missing one thing - individual channel panning. Which is a pretty common and useful feature. But 8 channels for this price is unbeatable for this solid little unit.

The mixer is doing its job, fairly clear and clean and all that. However it is missing a pretty basic feature - a PAN selector for the mono channels. I failed to notice that it is missing but in my defense I've never met a mixer without it :( I need two mono inputs and three stereo, my plan when buying the ix8B was to connect two of the stereo inputs to channels 3-4, and 4-5, with PAN left/right to emulate stereo inputs, but alas I can't do that.

Horrible. Don?t buy. I don?t need to explain it. Just don?t buy it.

I purchased the ix8B for my church and the ix6B for personal use. Both mixers work right out of the box for the exception of the effects. All the other functions did work. I liked the separate phantom power supplies for each channel (so no worries about blowing up wireless mics). Bluetooth work really well with no problems, mic pre's have plenty of headroom without using the gain knob and the USB port connects to the computer without a separate driver. I use the ix6B for me, so not having delay or reverb is not a big deal, but ix8B I use for church and some of the singers did take issue with that (having an effects loop would have helped here). Can't really say bang for the buck, but it will do the job.

It?s a cool little mixer, very solid construction. Feels very robust. My only complaint is that it doesn?t had a control for mid frequencies. I used it for a couple of DJ gigs and it saved my bacon one night. The person that was supposed to bring me the special music for a special even brought the music on a beat up old android cell phone that wasn?t active with any service. The headphone 3.5mm Jack was not working right and making all kinds of static and crackling noises. I was trying to figure out how to save the event for the young lady the party was for. It hit me stream the music via Bluetooth to my mixer and problem solved. So that?s exactly what we did. Streamed it Bluetooth and it worked with no problems. It is a very basic mixer, so don?t expect any bells and whistles. It sounds good for what it is. The price was great as I got it on sale and paid less than the regular price. Since then it?s been thru a handful of gigs and I?m about to use it to record and I?ve got no serious complaints. This mixer should last me for a long while as I can use it to record voice overs and similar stuff.

Works really great, wish it had reverb instead of delay. Other than that all good. Another good option to have would be monitor outputs. It has none. Overall like it a lot

Mixer was tested and appears to be functioning as it should. Haven?t used it yet for a gig. My only complaint is that the power supply is a flimsy transformer with a small plug that plugs into the unit. In a studio setting that might be acceptable. For the stage (which is what I plan to use this for) this will have to be protected somehow to keep it from getting damaged. I will probably end up mounting the unit in a case and using a sturdy cord to an AC outlet tp protect the transformer and its light gauge wire and plug. Otherwise, great value for the price.

Works very good right out the box. It's a good buy.
