Description
Although less common than their large diaphragm counterparts, some pencil, small condenser microphones excel by most performance standards, especially when used to capture high frequency detail. The Stage Right SC100 Small Pencil Condenser Microphones are no exception, delivering the professional studio quality performance of small condenser microphones costing several times their price. Small diaphragm condenser mics are the standard for recording any sound source that requires high frequency detail. From acoustic guitars to horns and even drums, the condensers in the Stage Right SC100 deliver better articulation, faster transient response, and exceptional high frequency shimmer, especially when compared to the more common large condenser mics. Additionally, the SC100s feature excellent transient response due to their small diaphragms, making them a perfect choice for drum overheads and other percussion instruments. Unlike ordinary pencil condenser mics, the Stage Right SC100 includes two pairs of interchangeable capsules, giving flexibility to an already outstanding microphone set. Simply unscrew the installed cardioid capsules and replace them with the included omnidirectional set, ensuring that you are always ready to capture perfect, natural acoustics, instantly. The Stage Right SC100 delivers performance and features rivaling that of professional studio mics at a fraction of the cost. Their wide frequency response and high maximum SPL ensure they perform at the level expected of real, professional recording microphones. The included replaceable capsules, mic clips, windscreens, and hard carry case complete a package that exceeds standards in both value and presentation.

Punch above their weight!

I own a recording studio and these punch well above their weight. Pretty much just live as room mics, picking up drum ambience then getting smashed by compression / saturation. They were solid on acoustic plucked instruments as well, if not a little bright. Solid little mics!
Deserves nothing less than 5 stars

I've had them for a couple years. The quality on these things are great! I use them for instruments and drums. I usually prefer these over my PVM 480s and cost much less. They can make a professional sounding recording. The fact they can include the case and all the gear as well as 2 quality mics. You can't afford not to get these if you have a music studio.
RF interference issues

These sound great but I've found they are particularly susceptible to RF interference. I've tried different interfaces and cables and through process of elimination determined it's something in the build of the mic. Using any other mic in my studio solves the issue. I like the mics a lot but unfortunately it looks like I'll have to use them for field recording only. Depending on where you record they might work great.

These mics have sounded exceptionally good on everything I have tried them with - almost always using the cardioid capsules. Acoustic guitar. Conga drum. Vocals. Sax. I've never been disappointed by these - very detailed but no harshness. Like a lot of Monoprice gear, these mics punch WAY above their weight class. Excellent value.
They've got you covered, mostly.

Pretty decent sounding stuff, not even for the money. These are not that much different to expensive alternatives... And you also get Omni

hard to beat for the price. obviously they are not a high quality studio mic like a Nueman km84 or even the km 184, but if you need a small diaphragm condenser mic or two and you are on a tight budget then i would recommend these. they sound OK, and at this price you won't feel bad about putting it on a snare drum and worrying about the drummer smashing it. the price and the quality are both good enough to risk spending a few dollars on them. i use them on acoustic guitar and mandolin and i am happy with them, of course i am just a hobby level enthusiast and making music for my own enjoyment. if i were a recording professional obviously i would probably invest in a serious matched pair of small diaphragm condenser mics. these are good enough quality and priced right so that you wouldn't hesitate to use them in a live situation or home studio. maybe even in a pro studio in certain situations. try them, you might like them.
Great microphones!

A real deal, particularly because omni capsules are included. I bought two pairs to be mounted in my pianos.
