Q: Why does this company use Maltodextrin in all their products?
submitted by R M - 8 months ago
A: We use maltodextrin (sourced from corn) in small quantities in some of our foods to improve texture and product quality.
submitted byKellogg Consumer Affairs - 5 months agoBrand expert
Q: The package says 6 servings- is a serving one or two "sausage" patties?
submitted by Autumn - 9 months ago
A: A serving is 1 patty.

Q: What are the “natural flavors”?
submitted by madiileigh - 10 months ago
A: We don’t have a list of specific ingredients in the natural flavors to share because the flavor recipe is unique and owned by our suppliers. The majority of natural flavor components used in our products are derived from a plant source such as concentrated fruits, vegetables and/or spices.
submitted byKellogg Consumer Affairs - 5 months agoBrand expert
Q: The ingredients as listed are not vegan, but the vegan label has been applied on the website. Which is true? Thank You! :)
submitted by ChessPlayer - 1 year ago
A: We are now producing this product without egg and milk ingredients. Stores may have the old version in stock so look for the word VEGAN on the package to be sure you are buying the new vegan version.

Summary of reviews
The recent recipe change of these sausage patties has left many guests disappointed, as they no longer enjoy the same flavor and texture that made them a favorite. While some guests appreciate the high protein content and vegan aspect, the overall consensus is that the new version lacks the meaty taste and satisfying consistency of the original. Guests are eager for the return of the previous recipe, which they fondly remember as a staple in their diets.

So happy these were reformulated to be vegan! I hated to give them up when I cut out all animal products. Been eating them for years. I don't think the change sacrificed taste or texture.

We just tried these as we normally buy the Beyond Breakfast sausage patties, and while fat in those add a lot of flavor, cooking them results in a greasy mess. These MorningStar patties taste great and have a good texture leaning on the drier side, but I love the macros (higher protein, lower fat), so as long as these are priced comparably, we'll be buying these moving forward. Hoping to see the entire MorningStar line become 100% plant-based/vegan.
Borderline gross now…were great

I am 46 and began eating these about when I started on solid food! I’m so disappointed in the 2021 change that altered the texture and taste in a very negative way. I used to tell people this sausage was the BEST meat substitute in the world. I’m searching for an alternative and won’t buy these as soon as I find one! Please bring back the old recipe!!
Unfortunate recipe change

These are now bad. They were a breakfast favorite, but recent patties have been pale and strangely textured with an off-tasting flavor.

Seriously, where these even tasted against the old recipe? If they were did Morningstar Farms specifically find people rtgat prefer funky texture warm cardboard? Because that is what these now resemble. You had the market cornered with the original breakfast sausage, now I beat this would make even beavers sad.

These are just awful ...texture, taste and strange after taste. I absolutely loved the original patties. Please consider going back to the original recipe. Will definitely not be buying these again

These are not tasty at all and the skillet cook time seems to be off as the cook much quicker than indicated. I would not purchase again.

I've been eating the Impossible sausage patties every morning for a while and figured I would give these a try, too; I'm not vegetarian but have been eating a lot of vegetarian products for health reasons. The flavor was ok (I preferred it to the Impossible ones), but the texture is terrible - dry, leathery, and hard to even get down. No thanks.

Why did you change the recipe? They used to be delicious and now they taste horrible. It now has a weird texture and they loss the flavor that used to make these taste so good. Sadly switching brands now
You keep changing it and making it worse!

The original recipe was perfect, then you made them vegan. After that change they were mushy and gross. I got used to having to over cook them so they weren't mushy and now you changed them again. Why cant you make the originals for MOST of the people that loved them and purchased them for many years. Then make a VEGAN version for everyone else and I bet you would sell more of the originals.

The bag I received in my latest order last week is NOT The Original Recipe. Anyone who doesn't see/taste a difference yet has been receiving old stock. I bought a bag last month and the sausages were perfect as they always have been since they hit the market decades ago. Well, it looks like my area of the East Coast of USA finally got the new recipe and I could tell as soon as I reached in the bag, sight unseen! It was absolutely confirmed when I saw them. They are now hockey pucks with no unique texture. They are now flat and smooth. No raised bumps to simulate sausage texture. Very dry as opposed to before which has a juicy quality. I have been eating these for decades. I will be returning them for a refund and will no longer purchase them.
Not as good anymore

I have been enjoying the “original suasage patties” for the last fifteen+ years, whatever has been changed in the last year or so, these are terrible now. Texture is that of, I don’t even know how to describe it, they hold some moisture but feel dry, overly firm, and lifeless. The flavor is gone by comparison to the older patties. The ingredient list is the same to either a change to the ingredients themselves or the process of making these, don’t know but they’re bad. I posted a comparison picture of the old versus new, I had on older package in the chest freezer (even though it had been in there, tasted way better too BTW)
R.I.P. The Original Breakfast Sausage

I used to love these. Whatever has been done to alter the once great flavor and texture is so disappointing. The original sausages were also clean and quick to make in the microwave. Perhaps a “Old School” option for those us who recall how good the old ones were.
What did you do to my beloved patties??
