Had this 2 years and it still does not function as it did when I first bought it. Several automatic/forced updates have caused basic functions to stop working. Good thing I only use at as phone and nothing else.

I started using this phone about a month ago. It started out amazing...everything worked wonderfully, but now it's starting to go slow. When I going to search bar sometimes it takes up to 30 seconds for the text bar to come up in order for me to type something in. It is quite frustrating when I'm in a hurry and I can't get my phone to work the way that it is supposed to. Other than the slowness everything else seems to be working nicely and operates a very similarly to a Samsung.

The Worst Phone I've Ever Used – A Complete Disast

I have never in my entire life— even before smartphones existed— had such a terrible experience with a device as I have with the Motorola G Play (2024). This phone is an absolute nightmare! The hardware is painfully weak, slow, and unresponsive. Even the simplest tasks feel like a struggle, with constant lag and freezes. The software is just as bad— glitchy, outdated, and full of bugs that make the phone nearly unusable. Apps crash randomly, the screen responsiveness is terrible, and the overall performance is beyond frustrating. Motorola should be ashamed to sell a device this bad in 2025. I wouldn’t recommend this phone to my worst enemy. If you’re considering buying it, save yourself the headache and look elsewhere!

Bought this for my 12 yr old daughter who drops phones almost as much as she loses them. We're very happy with the phone's performance as well as battery life. The price is unbeatable and has updated since purchasing to Android 14. I've taught my kids to take the initiative in maintaining their device's performance by manually clearing cache for all apps, disabling unwanted apps, force stopping an app after exiting it, closing tabs in browser and to turn off "allow background data usage" in every app possible. With that said, if users would commit to that type of manual maintenance daily & not just for this phone in particular but for all devices; there wouldn't be many complaints then for a great budget phone such as this one. I'd like to thank Motorola for keeping prices low and for keeping quality high. Taking responsibility for maintaining the performance of any device is something users should be doing but most do not. I feel some of the complaints in these reviews were made by those who do not take part in helping their tech run optimally. LOVE THE PRICE, LOVE THE PHONE! Thanks again Motorola!

I highly recommend this brand and phone. You can do everything that you need to do and everything that you want to do, on this phone, just like on phones that are way more expensive. Takes crisp, great photos. I honestly do not know why Motorola is not more popular. I really think that a lot of people equate price with quality in the phone department & that may be the case for a lot of phones but, in my experience, NOT the Motorola Moto g phones. I have had the Moto g stylus 5g 2022 for almost 2.5 years now and it is still running great and does everything that a much more expensive phone does. I bought this one for someone who needed a replacement and it is perfect. Highly recommend!

This is a nice phone. My husband purchased one for recreation purposes and was pleasantly surprised at the quality for the price he paid. So when we decided to get our 12 year old a phone for Christmas we knew we were getting something good for a good price. We set it up with a mint mobile plan, qustodio and Google family link, and it has worked beautifully. Our child is happy with it.

I bought this a few weeks ago and it's hands down the worst phone I've ever owned in the 20 years I've had cellphones. Constantly force closes on itself. Loaded with direct to your notifications ads. Beyond disappointing how it's always freezing up.

This is a great phone at a great price. Camera takes very nice pictures and I have yet to run down the battery. I do wish there was a smaller option like the z3 I was replacing and there are older android features I miss (not Motorola's fault) like shrink the screen and other little things. But for the money this phone is outstanding and I highly recommend it!
