Review Quotes

"Reading Mythos is like attending an ancient Greek class by your favorite, quick-witted British professor. "

--The Mary Sue

Holiday Gift Guide Pick "Mythos is filled with all their favorite Greek myths, along with stunning illustrations and notes from the author. It's a quick-witted retelling so beginners and experts can both get something from it."
-Buzzfeed

Holiday Gift Pick "Let waggish comic actor Fry be your ferryman as he retells, with the aid of eminent classical artwork, the ancient and strangely au courant Greek legends. Among them: Zeus and Hera's coupling of which Cry writes, 'Crackling with tension, impatience, and disgust, theirs was nonetheless a great marriage.'"
- O, The Oprah Magazine

"[Stephen Fry's] gloriously imaginative, erudite, warmhearted, and subversively funny retelling of the classic Greek myths...thoroughly enchanting and elucidating"
-Brain Pickings

"If you ever thought Greek mythology was intimidating, Stephen Fry's approach will appeal to you, as he explains the myths in casual terms relating them to modern-day people or events (yes, there's even a reference to Morrissey). There is also plenty of just generally funny commentary that had me laughing out loud and sharing passages with my family."
-GeekDad

The legendary writer, actor, and comedian breathes life into ancient tales, from Pandora's box to Prometheus's fire, and transforms the adventures of Zeus and the Olympians into emotionally resonant and deeply funny stories, without losing any of their original wonder. Talk About History Repeating. Ever want to know the woman's name that is still used today when studying Earth Sciences? How about how the River Nile got its or who the planet is named after, the body part that a vengeful son cut from his father that not only caused everything beautiful on Earth but how the act set into motion a curse that one day a civilization will come along and unleash his destructive wrath? One so deadly that has not only been discovered but actually used thousands of years AFTER the Greeks first recorded the story. Brilliantly written (and recorded on audiobook) by the incredibly talented British actor (Several Seasons Of BONES), author, director, broadcaster & comedian Stephen Fry, those stories are broken down, by Mr. Fry using his unique wit and the people, Gods and monsters who recorded and believed them. He also points out the inconsistencies, hilarity, and irony behind everything from a father swallowing his newborns whole, how siblings populated the world, what was Pandora's Box and more. For people who don't think there is any irony in the book, I'll quote my favorite animated character, Sterling Archer, view on the word, "This is like O. Henry and Alanis Morissette had a baby and named it this exact situation." (book in the case of this review)". I have already ordered the other 2 books in the series, "Hero's" and "Troy".
