  • A: They do smell a bit fishy. We usually buy Life Extension since they do not smell at all. It is puzzling as to why the Nature Made have that smell- the ingredients are simple so unless they are rancid?

Q: I have an unopened/sealed bottle that expired a year ago -- how much potency would the vitamins have lost? (Or is there a way to exchange it for a new bottle?)

submitted by toomuchoil - 4 months ago
  • A: We do not recommend taking products past the expiration date as we do not guarantee potency and safety past the expiration date. Please contact the store/retailer where the product was purchased for assistance.

My doctor recommended Nature Made vitamin D to me many years ago, and sure enough it brought up my vitamin D levels and has kept them up over the years. I love the softgel version, very easy to swallow.

No problems with the product itself, but after I picked up my order (which I made hastily out of convenience) I did a little google and realized this item cost me nearly 3x what a big target competitor is charging for it - we’re talking same brand, same iu, same soft gels, same pill count. And over $12 more than the manufacturer itself charges. Truly baffled by what I paid. I hope Target has made a mistake on this one.

Softgels are so much easier to swallow and less intimidating to take on a regular basis. Vitamin D does help with the immune system.

Safe product! But give us glass

What drew me to Nature Made is that it is USP Certified, since so few vitamin brands have any kind of safety / quality certification (whether that's USP, NSF International, or a third-party lab, if nothing else). I started taking these in combination with B12 and an antidepressant, and I do indeed feel a lot better, though it's hard to know which thing is responsible for what. The three things that disappointed me: the bottle is plastic (give us glass!), the packaging was also plastic, and the bottle is much much bigger than it needs to be.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using these vitamins as well as other vitamins with these. I really like these because they are small and easy to swallow compare to other brands. And they are easy to take anywhere since the bottle is tiny. Overall, I really like these vitamins.

Bottles missing USP label

3 out of 5 stars
hikerguy - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
I had called Nature Made yesterday to ask why the 250 count was missing the USP label and they said there was such high demand for vit D that they had other suppliers providing D3 but those suppliers hadn't been certified yet. So, I bought the 90 count since the image on the Target website showed the USP label. Picked up four bottles I bought online today. Opened one and popped a pill, then noticed the USP label missing on that bottle, along with the other three. The USP label certifies the quality of the product - e.g. contains the ingredients listed on the label, doesn't contain harmful contaminents, etc.). So, I contacted Tartet online and they refunded my money on the bottle I opened and I'll be returning the other unopened ones. If you're buying this for the USP label, I'd recommend buying in the store if possible so you can confirm if it has it or not. The rep I worked with was great in handling this problem.

There is a Laxative in this Vitamin D capsule

1 out of 5 stars
Dan B - 3 years ago

The ingredients are soy bean oil & glycerin. Soy bean oil is a good source of vitamin D. However, glycerin is a laxative. I wouldn't have bought it if I new. I don't understand why they would put that in a Vitamin D capsule. I will not buy again.
