Q: the lever would not pull back

A: I just searched it online and found out that if all of the pieces are not connected properly (pushed in all the way) it will not work. So I made sure to push in the top pieces and it works, good luck!

The assembly is difficult! Make sure an adult hears the click of every tab while putting together. Force is required. Once it’s assembled completely, it’s high powered nerf gun! My son loves it!

These reviews were so helpful!! Like everyone else I was convinced I bought my 2nd broken one and was ready to return it. You have to flip it over and push every part of it in super hard then it works!!

Our son received this for Christmas and we thought it was broken - exchanged for a new one, same problem: couldn't ever pull back to "prime"! Frustration! In the car, we tried the bow in case we needed to return it *again*...then I found a review - super helpful (I'll share - not my instructions, but it worked and he loves it!): "I can almost guarantee it won’t work at first. Then you’ll want to return it, but hopefully you’ll read this first. You thought you connected the top and bottom properly, but you didn’t. So here’s what you need to do: Flip the bow upside down, and push the “bottom” part hard all over to ensure the the top piece fully clicks into place- only after every part has clicked into place will the bow pull back to prime your nerf bullets. When you do this, it will work perfectly. This bow has a lot of force and is extremely accurate. And…..You’re welcome."

Comes disassembled. If I hadn’t read someone else’s review I would have tossed it as it didn’t work. Had to reassemble a couple — worried the plastic would snap every time— of times and make sure everything snapped into place and finally got it functioning.

I would like to say that this gun is built very well. I did have issues with the priming mechanism, my brother and I almost broke my nephews gift until we had to YouTube. Like everyone else having issues, please make sure that the top pieces that need to be attached are in sync (align) with the gun and then you pull back and shoot.

Had the same problem others are writing about. Thought everything was connected, but absolutely could not pull priming handle back. Almost returned it, but tried one more time to push all the tabs in very securely. I had to really push, and now it works great.

Could not prime! No matter how hard my husband or I tried. We went to store and tried several others…all the same. I watched a video on these and they should not be that hard to prime. My son loved the way it looked. Returned it for the Minecraft Nerf Axe and works great.

This Nerf crossbow did not work at all. Very similar to all the other reviews below. The darts do not shoot and the bow does not pull all the way back. Returning as soon as possible.

My son got this toy for his birthday from one of his friends. It was IMPOSSIBLE for him to pull the pin back in order to fire the bow. After a little digging and experimenting, I noticed that there was an orange button type deal at the front end towards the tip of the barrel underneath of the part you attach out of the box that wasn’t being pushed down enough to engage. I honestly can say, I cut a toothpick down to the correct size and pushed onto the button and then connected the top piece and now the bow works flawlessly and easily enough for my son to use.
