Film Masters has released a 2-disc Blu-ray set of Night Of The Blood Beast (1959) and Attack Of The Giant Leeches (1958). I own older disc releases of both titles, but this release is now the definitive presentation for both of these fun 50’s genre gems. Blu-ray video and audio quality: The source elements are a 35mm print for Blood Beast, and (most likely) a 16mm print for Giant Leeches. Blood Beast looks great, and Giant Leeches looks good considering the lesser quality source. The DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0ch sounds very good for both titles. Optional English subtitles are provided for both titles and for the audio commentaries. Blu-ray special features: This release is absolutely packed with special features. I’ve uploaded photos from the disc menus for a complete list. There’s also a wonderful 22-page illustrated booklet that’s included. This is the fifth Blu-ray release from Film Masters that I’ve purchased, and they have quickly become one of my favorite boutique disc labels. The exhaustive efforts put into their releases deserve nothing less than a 5-star rating.
