About the Book
"Where is God in the midst of your greatest pain? Davey Blackburn wrestled with that age-old question in the aftermath of the murder of his beloved wife, Amanda, and their unborn daughter. As the high-profile case slowly meandered its way toward legal justice, Davey embarked on the wrenching task of finding strength to restore his shattered soul and the broken pieces of his life. At turns horrific yet hope-filled, heartbreaking yet faith-affirming, Nothing Is Wasted is Blackburn's disarmingly raw account not only of the shocking tragedy that forever changed his life but of his late wife's inspiring trust in the God who welcomed her into His loving arms. The trauma he endured could have made anyone try to escape from the agony, yet by grace Blackburn chose to face the pain head-on and cling to his Savior to guide him through the storm. Most of us will never endure the depth of heartache that Blackburn has walked through and yet his message is for us all: that even in the greatest losses and most complex tragedies, God is inviting us on a path towards redemption and healing, hope and faith, where we can begin to see that nothing is wasted"--Book Synopsis

A true story of unimaginable pain, loss, and how God restored Davey through God's grace and mercy, and surrounds him with people of Godly faith and wisdom as Davey walks through this valley. I enjoy the way Davey adds scripture references throughout this book that are encouraging and inspiring. A definite must read for those who are hurting, or has gone through pain and loss of any kind. This book is a guide to those who search for encouragement, and inspiration in your trial.

Davey experienced a horrible tragedy in his life which left him reeling. Living in the aftermath, he had many life choices to make. The first and most important choice he made was to look to Jesus for help, comfort, and direction. In this book he writes very openly and honestly about his pain and loss, but also about his step-by-step journey from pain to purpose. He shares with his readers what God has taught him through this very difficult season. He communicates correct biblical theology on suffering and pain. He also provides hope, by pointing to scripture, sharing answers to prayer, and revealing examples of where God "showed up" in his life and did amazing things that only God can do. We don’t get to choose if we’re going to walk through pain, just how we walk through it. Jesus walked through suffering and was raised to new life. By His Spirit, we too can walk through suffering with confidence. What the enemy meant for evil, God uses for good. God doesn’t waste pain, and He invites us to partner with Him in the repurposing of our pain. I recommend this book for every adult, because everyone has either gone through a difficult season of life, or is currently going through a difficult season, or will have a difficult season in the future. We need help to navigate these unexpected, heart-wrenching circumstances when they happen to us. Redemption is a running theme throughout the book, as Davey reveals God's plan of redemption for all mankind along side examples of how God redeemed the painful things in his own life. If we seek God in our pain and suffering and let Him comfort us, teach us and guide us, we too will find that nothing is wasted.
