I have tried endless numbers of alternative products in pursuit of health. I tried this product as dates/date sugar and honey are the only two monosaccharides allowed on a diet that seems to be reversing an autoimmune condition that my husband has. The diet is GAPS. I have learned to like a vast amount of natural products but this date sugar was too worthless and ghastly to stomach. 1) doesn't easily melt in yogurt, at least. Stays powdery and grainy. 2) it takes a huge amount of the powder to get anything only mildly sweet. 3) the taste is distinct and atrocious so it could only be used in a few recipes where it might compliment instead of ruin. Wow. Give me liver or cod liver oil any day.

It has an appealing flavor and course texture. I enjoyed it in my steel-cut oatmeal. It didn't spike my blood sugar. That said, it does not have universal flexibility. For example, it doesn't dissolve in lemonade.

I thought I was getting a great deal as the date sugar was on sale. I opened 1 bag and do not know what I will do with the other 2. He ate date sugar as a child but we did not care for this at all.
