It’s a great fermenter and as others have noted, would benefit from some larger handles or perhaps a sling for moving it around. The service from Lehman’s has been absolutely terrific ands I won’r hesitate buying more from them.
Great Crock for all Fermenting

This is the second crock I have purchased. I use for pickling my cucumbers. I purchased one about 2 years ago and I couldn't keep up with the harvest so I have now invested into another one. Great if you are a DIY person.
It's okay. A little different than what I expected.

The pottery is a little thinner than I expected-- I thought it would be more like the heavy crocks I collect. I can see now the person who commented that theirs shattered. I didn't really get that until I felt this one. And the lid I received is a totally different color than the crock. It's very white while the crock is more of a beige. And the blue stripe on the lid is a totally different, brighter blue and different thickness than on the crock, too. Because this isn't a decorative item in my home, more of a functional one, I'm not going to cry about it, but it bugs me a bit that it looks like a mismatched set.
Love this crock!

Quality made parts and ingenious features make this crock my go-to for a life time. Love the water-filled airlock but I do wish the handles were a bit deeper.
Nice size and like the look. Haven't used it yet.

The crock arrived unbroken, but the weighing stones where loose and not sure if the crock has a hair line crack in it till I use it. One the stones was crack in half almost, but customer service was very easy to deal with and sent new ones out same day. This crock looks great and is big enough to do a large job or do a small batch of kraut. Very nice looks and construction seams great, considering made in the USA. Lid is easy to grab and has been fix from old design. But make no mistake, it is heavy and would be a lot heavier when filled. But good crocks are.

I bought this to make sauerkraut. I have made kraut in the past so understand the importance of the airlock feature. Also having the right weight is important. I will make my first batch of kraut in this crock this year so I will update my review after complete. I like what I see so far of this item.

I really liked the whole concept. I failed the first time. The second time I was quite excited. I thought this is it. Finally I can do it. I carefully prepared the vegetables . I picked up the lid and moved to place it and in one second it shattered. Granted I'm a disabled veteran and my hands aren't the best but I was shocked when it shattered. I still don't know why it happened and I have to throw everything away. I can't afford to replace it. Great I guess if you can use it. Not at all great for those of us with disabilities.

Great for making sauerkraut. The special lid provides an airlock that seals out air that would spoil the product. An audible burping can be heard as the sauerkraut ferments. I would highly recommend this product.

This is a nicely designed and well-made fermentation crock with a water-lock and should last a lifetime. It is heavy but that is expected. I feel comfortable using it for food since it is made in the USA. It is also attractive. There are some slight imperfections in the roundness of the lid which make me wonder if it is handmade. Overall I am very pleased. I have sauerkraut fermenting in it as I write this.

Making kraut is now a pleasure. No more worrying about keeping the fermenting cabbage properly covered. This crock makes things simple and easy.

I have been doing fermented vegetables for a long time in big bottles but doing them in this crock is something else, they are crunchier , juicier and I don't have to worry about air going inside. It's quite big but like that I won't have to make them so often.
