Ruined a good treat by switching to wheat flour as an ingredient. No longer soft and easy to break. Not much different than other wheat flour treats.

Upset at the "new and improved" recipe why did they change this to include wheat flour as the first ingredient. The reason we got this was because it did not include wheat... Not much of an improvement.

Hi Mickey, wheat flour was added to the Chick'n'Apples recipe to decrease breakage of the biscuits. We do have some other biscuits that are wheat free. My senior dogs loved these but the “new and improved “ version seems to have gotten harder. I now have to break these into small pieces. Is this a different recipe or do I have a bad batch?

Hi Hillby, we're sorry to hear this. We did add wheat flour to the recipe because there were issues with the biscuits breaking before reaching the consumer. I have a medium sized terrier mix and a large pibble and they both agree that Old Mother Hubbard dog treats are the best of the best! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This flavor was not as popular with my dogs. I have 6 large dogs: golden retrievers, Australian shepherd/lab mixes, and pitbull mixes. The size was a little small for their mouths but they managed to gobble them down safely. It was perfect for rewards after going outside, and working on their manners. 1 golden and 1 Australian shepherd/lab were not interested. One thing I did appreciate even though they are small treats, they were tender enough for my dogs to chew. 4 of my dogs are 11 yrs old and up and some dog food is too crunchy for them. These treats were just the right crunch level.

The minis would be a good size for a small dog as well. I *mostly* like the ingredient list, although why you would put garlic (which is toxic to dogs) in a treat MADE FOR DOGS is beyond my understanding.

They are just small enough to where she almost swallows them whole. For the price it is not worth what you get but if price is not a factor they must be tasty.
