Description
Target's July 2023 Book Club pick and signed by author, Terah Shelton Harris!!!
When 26-year-old Sara Lancaster’s father falls ill, she leaves the secluded home she’s made for herself in Maine and returns to the Georgia home she fled after she was raped eight years before. While caring for her father and running his bookstore, Sara is desperate to protect her curious, outgoing, genius daughter, Alana—the child of that rape—from the Wylers, the powerful family of the man who assaulted her. They have no idea that Alana exists—and Sara intends to keep it that way.
Sara thinks she can succeed, but she doesn’t realize that her attacker’s identical twin brother, Jacob, has also just returned home, there to piece together the fragments of the Wylers’ former glory, uncovering and understanding the violation that brought about the family’s downfall while seeking to forgive his incarcerated brother.
When their two worlds collide unexpectedly, Sara and Jacob are drawn together, plumbing the darkness of the human spirit while healing each other.
Told in alternating points of view, One Summer in Savannah is a heartbreaking yet hopeful story that deeply interrogates questions of redemption and forgiveness.

I loved everything about this book. It took me a day to read it. This author needs to give us a part 2 because there are so many questions that I have. I need to see the future of the brilliant young girl.

Love the book, I’ve never gotten into to poetry but reading your book and understanding the words and associating feelings to them was really breath taking and makes me want to start reading poetry and learning how to interpret the words. Can’t wait to read your next novel. Thank you

I couldn’t put the book down. The characters are so beautifully created. I’ve never been into poetry but the way it was perfectly inserted into the story allowed me to see it in a new light. Must read.

I wanted to like this book after reading so many glowing reviews. I couldn’t get through the book after becoming frustrated with several far-fetched situations. Genius child, father who only speaks in poetry, relationship with the identical twin of her attacker are a few things that distracted from making the story believable and meaningful. Save your $ and don’t buy this book.

Ebook/Women's Fiction: I had a pretty good idea how this book was going to end, but I wanted to know the journey. First, read the forward. Just do it. This book just came out so no spoilers, just how the novel made me feel. As a disclaimer, I got an ARC from Netgalley and the author is an acquaintance of mine. The book is a simple plot with emotional baggage. There are family secrets on top of family secrets. I liked that I didn't have to do an eye roll at any time. I liked the characters and I especially liked the humanism of the last few chapters. I do recommend this book.
