But setup and using my Koda 12 was so easy and our three pizzas turned out pretty great. I'll definitely play with the heat settings more (think I got too hot toward my last pizza of the night) and graduate from premade rolled refrigerated dough when I've got more time to devote to it, but I can see my family enjoying this on a regular basis.

I feel compelled to write this review because of how much I love my Koda. I've never really had a failure, but there is a slight learning curve. There are lots of videos on you tube to get you started. Except on the coldest days mine reaches temp in about 20 minutes. Thats just about the time it takes to prep the Pizza. I hand rotate about every 25 seconds and in four turns its done. I've used mine about three times a week in the past three years and it still looks and performs like brand new.

Add a valve for better flame control

It took me a while to perfect pizzas out of this oven. First, preheat for 30 minutes. Stone is not hot enough in 15 minutes. Second, add a 1/4” valve at the oven connection so you can actually turn the flame down enough once the top is almost done, so the bottom can finish cooking. The valve on the oven will not allow a low temperature. Before I added the valve, I would turn off the oven when the top was done, and let it sit to finish the bottom. Make’s better pizza than anyone in my area.

This oven started me down a very expensive rabbit hole. It’s a good oven for the cost and is durable so long as you don’t abuse it. There is a learning curve but what oven doesn’t have one. I no longer own it. I gifted it to my parents. I use a different brand now. But for the price you get a very easy to use oven of high quality.

We received a Koda 12 gas model along with a few hundred dollars of accessories as a house warming present. After following all the instructions and using their dough recipe as well as a few store bought doughs, I can say we failed. Every one was either badly burned in the back 1/3 of the pie or ridiculously undercooked. We stored it for a few months, until my parents, the giftors, came for a visit. Dad's more of a cook at 82 than I will ever be. He attempted 6 different ones, failing to get an edible product by the end.

The high heat of the Ooni can be tricky for a beginner, but I’m getting better and I’m excited to keep going. And that’s the thing with pizza - when you mess it up, it’s still great. If you get better, it’s even more delicious.
