Got the package and the bottles had leaked. Don't know why, as the caps were tight. Thankfully the good people in distributing place individual parts of your order in plastic bags. The sauce was really sour smelling and tasting. I think that just the way it's made, not because it was spoiled. I like my BBQ sauce sweet. If you like tangy, this might be the one for you.

I like the taste but why do they need to put red 40 (and other numbered colors) in this sauce? We will pass until they take the colors out.
Great mild sauce

I don’t like most sauces. However, this one is tasty without being too spicy.

tastes really good. i typically prefer a thicker barbecue sauce and this is super thin, but i’ll overlook it for the taste (and price)!
Really happy to see 5 star ratings

Open pit is a very underrated sauce. It is really some of the best BBQ sauce out there on the commercial big chain companies. It gets a bad rep because of the name, but has stood the test of time.. I'd say at least 30+ years and going strong
Use Open Pit in the Oven or on Grill.

I add Open Pit the last 15 to 20 minutes of cooking chicken in the oven. It has a fair amount of vinegar and tomato and salt flavor with mild spices. When it bakes into the chicken, it has a wonderful taste. Highly recommended.

I'm not really sure what is up with all the 5 star reviews because this was honestly the worst barbecue sauce I've ever had. It was tangy and tasted like miracle whip but spicy. Also, it was pinkish in color too.

I grew up with Open Pit BBQ sauce. It isn't your typical 'brown sugar smear' style BBQ - Open Pit is actually good! It has a tang, a bit of a bite, and is not overly sweet. When given the choice, Open Pit will always be my preferred BBQ sauce.

Grew up on Open Pit in Chicago. Great taste and cooks up wonderfully. Not your traditional smokey BBQ flavor, this is tangy and wonderful.

Look everyone has their own special preference when it comes to BBQ. Typically what part of the country determines what your flavor preference of barbecue is. I'm from Chicago and was raised on open pit. I've tried just about every brand of barbecue sauce since I left Chicago 45 years ago and I have not found any barbecue sauce that even comes close to open pit try it most of the time I will do is I will mix ketchup with open pit when we cook with it but open pit straight is what I use for my dipping sauce.

In the 1960's Open Pit was about the only BBQ sauce you could buy in Chicagoland. It makes the best Sloppy Joe's!!! No other BBQ sauce comes close. I believe they stopped making it many years ago. I was very happy to see that Target is offering it on its website. They use to sell it in the stores but stopped a few years ago. I hope they continue to make it available on the website.

I have been using Open Pit for 30 years. Marinating chicken in this sauce makes for the best BBQ chicken you have ever tasted. You really have to soak the chicken in the sauce to get it all covered & submersed.
Wow!

Best barbeque sauce ever! It's a little runny but the taste is a bit spicy and not tomato flavored. My family and friends love it!
