Outriders: Day One Edition - Xbox One/Series X

Gameplay is very clunky and frustrating, cutscenes aren’t great, gunplay isn’t great, and the story is all over the place. I played for approximately 3 hours before I decided that it wasn’t for me. Also has rampant performance issues on my Xbox One S (and I’ve tried adjusting all the settings that I can). If you don’t mind the things mentioned, you might like it, but just too frustrating for me.

A very middling game. There’s a lot of background development of story but it wasn’t translated into the game in any meaningful way. Every zone is largely linear and repetitive, with the same mix of enemies and the same tactics repeated over and over. Level progression is weak at best, and it’s the difficulty progression is laughably bad. Start out getting outright slaughtered each level, and then end it so radically overpowered you can walk through areas with little fear. Bosses also don’t fit in their difficulty stack, some are weaker, some are massively overpowered requiring the player to drop their setting. Character creation at the start kicks off some of the problems, because there is no explanation really of your class powers later. Literally the greatest character choice of the game, one that will effect everything from that point on, is devoted a whole 1 sentence explainer and nothing else. In all, a beautiful game cinematically, with potential, but it’s been squandered on subpar story and gameplay issues. The looter-shooter format didn’t help, since this world aches to be explored in an open-world format.

few updates buggy constant grinding

Great game. Character dialog and game maps/worlds are immersive. Reminds me of destiny mixed with gears of war. Good bit of bugs still need to be worked out but the guts of the game are awesome and deserve recognition.

This is the first game I bought in a long time after playing the demo. It has an amazing original story, diverse classes, realistic graphics, and mod customization that will make you want to do multiple play throughs to try out new builds. It hasn’t let me down and I’m working on leveling my fourth character.
