The underside braces on the seat were missing drilled holes. There was no way to secure the bolts. Had to return, at much hassle.

Poor quality for the money

Quality seems very poor. One stool was sent with two of the same side legs and had to be returned because the angle doesn’t work. Another stool had paint covering the holes and the peg had to be shoved in Because with all the paint it didn’t fit properly. Then I had to clear away debris from opening the hole. Lots of marks and bumps covered up with finish as well. Definitely not what I would expect for paying $50 per stool.

Poor quality control. Received item with multiple chips of paint off especially at corners & edges. Overspray on some pieces where dried drip marks can be seen on edges especially on seat part. Under seat part was underspray showing white primer. Called the Powell Company to have 2 pieces replaced without charge that had the most paint damage. Took another week to arrive. Paint on replacements was excellent, but a bit more difficult to assemble the cross legs from original chair. Not a perfect fit. Original chair manufactured in Jan 2019 while replacements were made in Nov 2017. Wooden plugs from original shipment would not fit holes in replacement A-frame legs. Had to drill holes 1/16 inch larger.
Hints for assembly: To reduce chance of screws loosening, use Loctite Blue Thread Seal over distal half inch of screw before insertion. To keep wooden plugs tight & reduce chance of falling out, use rosin powder from a violin bow, etc. on outer peripheral edge before tapping in with rubber/plastic mallet. Helps to know someone who plays a stringed instrument.

After having this counter-height stool for two years, I still like the color (red-no orange tones), the finish is still great, but I no longer have any plugs to hide the screws and it is very unsteady to sit on. The climate is very dry here and I think the wood just dried out. Am de-constructing and adding a filler to the screw holes, hoping that will solve the problem. Just an FYI for folks who might live in an arid climate.

I love the style and the color! They are easy to assemble and comfortable to sit in. The only issue I had was the little buttons that you stick in to cover the screw heads, wouldn't stay in. Other than that, they're great.

As cute as these stools are, as well made, as much as I like the style (and the price), these adjustable swivlel will have to be returned. Sadly, they are just too wide in diameter for the space in which I wanted to put them. I have already ordered and received a rectangular woodsn one that works. No swivel, but the color is great.
