A: Hello Susan! Our Icing Knives do not have a sharp edge, but a smooth edge for even coats.

A: Hello! Our Icing Knives are designed specifically for spreading. The thin blade on the knife can be useful to help remove food from silicone molds but it has not been tested for this purpose.

The OXO 2pc Icing Knife Set is a little large and hard to use. The top of the cake peeled while icing the cake. I did let the cake cool long enough. Also with just one washing in the dishwasher the metal pitted.

Ordered these online to include in a gift of assorted kitchen tools. I was a little surprised at the size of them. My own frosting tool is much more petite so these seemed clunky to me. But being Oxo brand, I assume they will be comfortable to hold and use.
