Q&A(216)

Q: Can you mute the beeps?

submitted by rwestward - 5 years ago
  • A: I was able to mute it following the instructions (has to be done basically the second you plug it in or you'll have to do it all over again). Our power went out once so I left it unmuted.

    submitted bybu8bles - 2 years ago
  • A: Yes. In the manual Page 8 under Using the Microwave for the First Time, Section 3.

submitted byDirk Diggler - 4 years ago
  • A: Yes. I just physically verified that you can mute the beeps by following the clear instructions in the manual under "Using the Microwave for the First Time". You can change the weight system between metric and imperial and turn the beeps on / off during the initial setup. If you forget to do this during the initial setup it's as easy as unplugging the microwave, plugging it back in and starting the setup process over. I have model NN-SN67HS.

    submitted byjster804 - 4 years ago
  • A: Yes, BUT it must be done when first plugged in, and REDONE every time it loses power for any reason and for any duration; I wrote myself a note on how to do it and put it right by the device.

  • A: Yes, there are simple instructions in the manual.

submitted byrobbidob - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi! You can turn the Beep off when you set up the unit. -G

  • A: Yes, you can mute the beeps. it is in the Instruction Manual under "Using the Microwave for the First Time.". Plug in, press Start twice. Then press Timer to cycle between beep on or off.

submitted byKathy - 3 years ago
  • A: NO MUTE! I bought it after at the store reading “robbidob” stating you could mute it but he was wrong. The Panasonic NN-SN67HS does not have mute or even a sound level adjustment. I confirmed this after buying the oven, taking it home, reading the manual cover-to-cover and also confirming on Panasonic’s website that you cannot mute it. Whoever said you could just did a disservice to Target and me because I am taking it back. Argghhh!

submitted by - 4 years ago
  • A: Yes, as stated by customer Dirk Diggler. In the manual Page 8 under Using the Microwave for the First Time, Section 3. When you first plug it in, press Start, then Cooking Timer to toggle the Beep on or off. Works fine on mine.

submitted byTech Support - 4 years ago
  • A: I just read in the Owner's manual how to mute the beep. From a quick read, it's easily done for each session. I don't know if it can be set and forget.

Q: How is its warranty length?

submitted by gsdslvn - 7 years ago
  • A: Hello, when purchased as new, the unit has a manufacturer warranty of one-year mail-in/carry-in service repair, applied from the moment of purchase. As well, the magnetron part (only) has a 5-year warranty. -G

submitted byPanasonic Team - 3 years ago

  • A: One year parts and labor on everything; five years parts and 1 year labor on the magnetron. This from the manual.

  • A: We've had the same microwave for several years of hard use, we are replacing it because the cavity is getting in bad shape - with this model.

submitted byBill - 2 years ago
  • A: However once it breaks they have terrible customer service at Panasonic. Even the website is difficult to use. They very hard to find phone number was perpetually busy. I have been using the chatbot to communicate with them. I'm waiting for them to contact me, in the meantime I rely heavily on the microwave, and can't really do without it. I won't buy Panasonic ever again.

submitted byLostCashDallasTX - 4 years ago
  • A: 1 year parts and labor

    submitted byDani5 - 7 years ago
  • A: FYI, Panasonic is among the most reliable brands of microwave ovens, as rated by Consumer Reports (which arrives at its ratings by detailed surveys of its members).

Q: Does this model have a popcorn button on front panel?

submitted by Jane - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi. The unit has a popcorn button. -G

submitted byPanasonic Team - 3 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: The popcorn button actually has 3 levels depending on the size of the bag, however, I use the first one and just stop it at 5 seconds between pops so I don't have to start it again

    submitted bybu8bles - 2 years ago
  • A: Yes! It has a popcorn button. Although I would never recommend using a popcorn button.

submitted byShopping Eye - 4 years ago
  • A: Tried popping with the preset popcorn button. When it was done, there were a lot of kernels un popped still in the bag. Recommend using the timed button instead

Q: Does this model have a child safety lock? If so, can it be permanently disabled/one and done? (No children in this household nor visiting.) Many newer models have these locks that must be disabled each and every time the unit is used.

submitted by kinva - 6 months ago
  • A: I have this microwave, and 1) these instructions do not disable the child safety lock 2) multiple "brand experts" are giving different answers to this same question in the FAQs 3) none of them work.

submitted byKatherine - 5 months ago
  • A: Yes it has one on the answers to this question that someone put is “The lock function can be permanently disabled by pressing Defrost, then Timer and then the Popcorn button within 10 seconds. - S” I tried that and it’s worked for me with this microwave you just have to do it kinda quickly. If it doesn’t work for anyone I would suggest returning it because that’s apparently how it turns it off. Best of luck-ST

submitted byniki - 3 months ago
  • A: Hello and thank you for your question! All of our microwave models manufactured after May 2024 have the new Child Door Lock safety features as Federal law requires Microwave Ovens to be equipped with an electronic door lock safety function. The lock function can be permanently disabled by pressing Defrost, then Timer and then the Popcorn button within 10 seconds. - S

Q: What are the 2 large plastic pieces that protrude outward on the lower back of the microwave? Are those suppose to always be on the microwave, even while the microwave is running?

submitted by Jay - 2 years ago
  • A: Pretty sure this is to ensure the microwave oven sits the required minimum distance away from the back wall so the hot air generated by the microwave oven can dissipate.

submitted bylinmu - 1 year ago

Q: Does this microwave have a California Prop 65 cancer warning?

submitted by BobH - 4 years ago
  • A: Hello! Please note that only the microwave ovens sold in California will have the Prop 65 warning available. The warning will be available on the packaging. All microwaves are in compliance with them. -G

submitted byPanasonic Team - 3 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Pretty much anything electronic will have a Prop 65 warning--even if the only "toxic" materials are in "no user-serviceable parts inside" locations that YOU won't touch, let alone your food.

submitted byKathryn - 3 years ago
  • A: I went to my local Target (in California) to physically check the packaging. This microwave does not have a Prop 65 warning.

Q: Does the oven have a add 30 second button?

submitted by Debra - 4 years ago
  • A: Correction: The More/Less buttons are not related to the Quick 30 button. Pressing the Quick 30 button once sets the cook time to 30 seconds, and each press thereafter adds 30 more seconds. There is no way to decrease the time by 30 seconds.

submitted bystko - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Debra! The microwave oven has a Quick 30 button. Press Quick 30 until the desired cooking time (up to 5 minutes) appears on the display. The power Level is pre-set at P10. -G

submitted byPanasonic Team - 3 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Yes, it does. There is a "Quick 30" button that sets the cook time to 30 seconds. Pressing it again adds 30 more seconds (up to 5 minutes). To the right of the button are More and Less buttons. You can press those to increase/decrease the cook time in 30 second increments.

Q: Does it have a child safety lock and can it be disabled?

submitted by SoLAGardenLady - 6 months ago
  • A: I have this microwave, and the instructions (from the manual, and stated above), do not work to disable the child safety lock. I would advise buying a different microwave. I wish we did!

submitted byKatherine - 5 months ago
  • A: Hello! NN-SN67HS features a child safety lock. When the time of day appears in the display, press Start three times; “Child” will appear in the display. Press Stop/Reset three times; the display will return to the time of the day and Child Lock will be cancelled. Hope this helps! -C
