Peak Design Everyday Backpack v2 (20L, Black)

Peak Design Everyday Backpack v2 (20L, Black) - 1 of 1
$279.95 when purchased online
Target Online store #3991

About this item

This 20L, black Everyday Backpack v2 from Peak Design is a versatile bag that is designed for photographers, multimedia creators, or anyone whose carrying requirements can benefit from its compressible, size-adjustable design that minimizes bulk or can be expanded as needed. Multiple magnetic latches for its top flap allow this backpack to vary from 18.3" to 22.3" in height, while inside, three dividers allow items to be stacked within the main compartment. The dividers also feature foldout surfaces that can be configured to cushion and hold items against either of the Everyday Backpack v2's zippered side openings. Since the side openings are positioned to face the wearer when the bag is rotated from one's back to front with either side facing upward, the dividers provide the ability to ensure which items can be most quickly accessed from the bag's sides. When this Everyday Backpack v2 is worn, a zippered sleeve with dedicated pockets for a 12.9" tablet computer, a 15" laptop, as well as their chargers and cables rests behind the shoulders. To store and organize batteries, memory cards, small electronics, or personal items, the inside surfaces of each of the side openings include a both a slip pocket and zippered pocket. Along the exterior of the side openings are two large, open pockets that can each hold a water bottle, tripod, or monopod; any one of which can be secured using the included short external carrying straps with the gear loops located above each pocket. Long external carrying straps are also provided. With the additional gear loops distributed along the surface of the Everyday Backpack v2, those carrying straps allow equipment, accessories, or packable clothing to be fastened against the bag's front panel. Alternatively, the long external carrying straps can be used as rear loading straps to secure items under the bottom of the Everyday Backpack v2. The Everyday Backpack v2 can be carried using the wide, built-in handles along its top, sides, or by its adjustable, shoulder straps. For heavy loads, this bag's sternum strap can be used to more evenly distribute the weight being carried. During storage or transport, the shoulder straps can be magnetically fastened against the rear panel, which also features an integrated luggage pass-through, allowing this bag to be mounted onto a rolling case's telescoping handle for added convenience. Featuring a durable, nylon construction, the Everyday Backpack v2 is built to be weather resistant. To further protect its contents should the bag be placed on a wet surface, the bottom panel is waterproof.

Engineered for Creators, Built to Last.

This backpack is truly one of a kind — versatile, thoughtfully engineered, and highly usable. Over the years, I’ve tried many types of camera backpacks, and finally, I landed on Peak Design. I started with the 15L Everyday Zip and later upgraded to the 20L Charcoal Everyday Backpack. I must say, it’s a wonderful bag — tough, sleek, and designed with a photographer’s real needs in mind. Easily one of the best camera bags in the market. And I can’t go without mentioning Peak Design’s incredible warranty service — it’s the cherry on top! Pros: Durable and well-designed User-friendly layout Attention to small, thoughtful details Cons: The partitions could offer more grip to secure gear better A full-zip opening would make gear management easier, especially at the start Missing a zipper in the top panel Wish: Would love to see designer editions with patterns or artwork — something unique and stylish!

I’ve been eyeing this backpack for a while and finally bought one, in coyote. I love all the organizations that this bag offers, tried it for a hike even! I knocked off one star because of two things: 1. The laptop compartment is SO TIGHT! Way too tight, I’m barely able to stick an iPad Pro with keyboard case and nothing else. 2. The side pockets are also SO TIGHT!! I had to struggle to stick an 18-oz water bottle in there.

I recieved my bag after my previous bag got messed up through warranty. The customer service was amazing and understanding. The new bag is good quality and no issues! I like some of the features from V1, but overall I have been enjoying using the new bag.

Bought this backpack several years ago and I have not thoughts of ever changing or getting a new bag. It is 100% worth the investment. The quality and design is unparalleled and nearly an indestructible product. The bag has been through the rain, snow, and the sun for 3 years and still feels like brand new. Keeps all my gear weather proof and safe. The bag has outlasted 2 cameras, 2 cars and 2 relationships, absolutely unscathed.

Functional, stylish and waterproof

I recently purchased the Peak Design Everyday Backpack 20L, and overall, I'm quite impressed with its blend of functionality, style, and waterproof capabilities. The design is sleek and modern, making it a versatile choice for daily commuting. The weatherproof materials give me peace of mind, knowing that my gear is protected from unexpected rain. The organizational features are top-notch, with customizable dividers that allow me to safely store my laptop, camera, and other essentials without them getting jostled around. However, I did encounter one issue. When the backpack is packed with heavier items, like a laptop and camera gear, it can become uncomfortable on my shoulders over extended periods. Perhaps a little more padding on the straps could enhance comfort during longer trips. Overall, I would give the Peak Design Everyday Backpack 20L a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It looks great and functions well, but the shoulder discomfort with heavier loads is something to consider if you plan on carrying it for long durations.

Have been using for several months now and honestly I'm still finding little extras every week that just make this bag a pleasure to use. Small pockets line larger ones, many locations for any sized items, multiple ways to enter the large portion of the bag, multiple laptop/tablet sleeves--its a just a pure pleasure to use.

Having this bag close to a year now, I have no regrets! Great in functionality and practicality, customization, build quality and looks. Everyone should get one! While sometimes I wish that I could have the 30 litre, the 20 litre version is suffice for my needs.

I have been using this bag foor a couple weeks now and am very satisfied with the product. I am a family doctor and use this bag for my home visits for which it is absolutely perfect! The backpack is spatious, sturdy but not to heavy and clearly of high quality. The dividers are extremely convenient since I have some tools that are different sizes and shapes, which would normally be difficult to keep organized. I will recommend this bag to all my colleagues!

A clear upgrade over V1

Got V2 as a warranty replacement for the V1. V1 looks more fancy, more fancy elements, more leather, etc, but V2 is just much more practical: laptop compartment, internal side pockets, etc. Few changes I did not like comparing to V1: 1. attachment loops are not tethered to the pack and have plastic instead of metal buckets, 2. Shoulder straps have additional “wrapped” padding, which is probably much greater from the durability perspective, but makes the pack to look much cheaper, 3. No integrated hip belt (not like you need it for a 20L every day, but was nice to have while biking).

Beautiful bag, not up to par with EDC’s in 2024

The bag is beautiful, functional, and gets the job done. In 2024, can I recommend this at the current price point? Probably not, unless you are already in the ecosystem. The bag needs a non-compromised approach to organization. The two big things I see in competitors are: 1) a dedicated AirTag pocket. I don’t want to compromise and use an existing pocket like I do currently, so I can reserve these for my gear. I’d also like to see this hidden. 2) a dedicated quick access pouch. This is a no-brainer; the ability to access essentials without having to expose all my gear would be great, ie AirPods / sunglasses. 3) straps. The straps are the biggest shortcoming of this bag and could use some love with some newer tech like Aer and Alpaka.

2 Key Critiques

4 out of 5 stars

I love Peak Design and will still buy their products. But please consider these for next iterations! 1. The luggage slot on this bag goes in sideways. This is inconvenient because 1). one side of the bag is unreachable, 2). accessing the top back slit pocket results in contents falling out and 3). the slot to put the luggage handle through is larger than my luggage bags, resulting in a slide from side to side making it difficult to balance the bag. 2. The bag does not fully open from the back. while it is okay most of the time, it is much more practical to be able to pull the whole back part out to access contents, especially if it's in the middle of the middle (not easily accessible from the sides or the top). Otherwise the bag is sturdy, looks great, has many features and I still use it everyday.

I use the very first version of this amazing backpack for my camera stuff all around the world since I backed it at Kickstarter 8 years ago. Still a very good product. Never had any issues. If it would fall apart someday I'd buy it again. But I guess this product won't get broken someday.

Bought it a couple of years ago with an idea that I might return it if it’s too focused on photography equipment. Never happend. I’ve been happy with the backpack ever since and with its versatility. And, believe me, I used it for everything, from work to light tracking. Sometimes wish it to be lighter, but new products that fit the bill are coming.
