PetSafe Small Happy Ride Backpack Dog Carrier

Bought this for our Cavalier King Charles puppy. Works great in the car and also as an easy portable crate around the house.

As this ensures my dog the extra protection and removes the ease of thoughts of “Will the bag withstand the weight of my dog? Will my dog be safely carried while I’m walking? Or is my dog comfortable?” This pet backpack has all the features you need to make sure your best friend (dog, cat, bunny, or even bird) is safe, with extra comfort as it’s also padded. Although, the bag can withstand up to 20 pounds. On the left side of the bag, there’s a zipped pocket for extra storage. On the right, there’s an optional opening to allow immediate access to your pet’s needs, such as giving them treats on the go without needing to open the main zipper. At first, I thought carrying this pet backpack would put a strain on my back, until I realized that it’s also padded for comfort, and also have a safety belt to ensure the safety of your pet while carrying this backpack. I’m not sure what else to ask for such a perfect pet backpack. This pet backpack has all the features you need to keep your pet safe while traveling.

Initially I thought the carrier would be larger but my Chihuahua can barely fit! He was able to rotate and such but it’s something to keep in mind. People are instantly intrigued to see a doggie backpack!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cat loves this. I try to walk everyday. Sometimes I use the pet stroller. Most of the time I use the backpack. My cat, Simon, seems to really prefer the backpack over the stroller. I live in a rural area so there can be a lot to see and Simon gets a bird’s eye view from the back pack.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a fantastic, well-made backpack carrier. The quality is really nice and has great details and features. It is soft but sturdy, so it’s comfortable for your pet. I love that it can attach to the car seatbelt. Only problem is that it’s a bit small for our 18 lb dachshund. She is long, so she is a bit scrunched up in there. It doesn’t seem like she’d be comfortable in there for a long period of time. I’d say this is better for 15 Lbs and under. Otherwise, it it’s a great carrier option for taking your friend with you on the go.

There is step by step directions if needed . My cat loves to ride in it . The back pack carrier is very comfortable and very easy to use. It makes it more easy to take my cat places! I really had trouble getting my cat I to her crate, she would fight and put her foot against the grates and block us from getting her in. This backpack she was so curious she went right in with no issues. A definite plus in my book. I like the little pull opening that you can put your hand in the backpack without fully opening in, great for treat time or petting to calm your pet down.

It not only looks great with it's modern design, but will definitely hold up over time with frequent use. The shoulder straps are padded and the soft framing creates shape without anything digging into my back. Wearing it with my 10 lb cat inside has actually been much more comfortable than carrying a traditional carrier with my hands, as I'm a pretty small person that's not very strong. The base is sturdy and flat, my cat's weight felt supported and well-distributed. Since this was my cats first time being in a backpack, I poured catnip at the bottom and placed it next to her cat bed in the living room to try to see if she would get in. She actually got right in and made herself comfortable. In no way is she a lover of carriers, so this was a big deal for me! My other cat must have got jealous, bc that one peed inside of it to mark her territory. Surprisingly, and fortunately, it was incredibly easy to clean out. There is a water resistant pad at the bottom that can come out and has a removable microfiber cover that was very simple to wash out in the sink. Very impressed, couldn't be more pleased!

There's another strap that buckles at your chest for extra support. Both of my cats fit in it pretty well and they seem to enjoy going for a ride in it. The mesh screen is also very durable.

When I put it down for my cat to crawl inside the backpack he went right in. When I went to zip it I didn’t fully because in my opinion he did not have enough room inside to where I felt was enough space. My cat is under the weight requirement of 20lbs but he just must be larger body I guess. My boyfriends cat who is smaller, loved it. I walked around with him in it and he enjoyed being able to walk around outside via the backpack!

The backpack seems sturdy, with a pocket at the bottom for the dog to poke his nose out. Our dachshund, an 18 lb dog, is fairly long and it is a little bit of a tight fit for her. It worked great considering her back.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our little 12 pound pup loves to get out. We take her almost everywhere we go. We decided to give this PetSafe Happy Ride Backpack a try. My first impression was that this carrier was sturdy. The backpack is able to stand up by itself. All the sides, zippers and mesh screens are all very well built, as are the straps. I felt very comfortable putting my dog in it, as did my dog. The base is fairly solid and doesn’t cave in. There is mesh on three sides that gives it good visibility and ventilation as well. My dog doesn’t mind it at all. As for fit, the first few times I wore the backpack wasn’t very comfortable for me. I felt the backpack and the straps were too stiff. It didn’t conform to my shoulders or back. After a couple of uses, however, it did seem to break in a bit, but I still didn’t find the fit to be perfect. In my opinion, this is a great backpack carrier for dogs but I think it could be better designed to make it more comfortable for people. If you’re not wearing it for hours at a time, however, I think it is a good backpack for short trips.

I especially like the corner where I can either put my hand in a pet my pooch or she can stick her cute little head out. I travel a lot and plan on using this in my adventures. My fur baby seems to like it. She didn’t get distressed when I put her in it, seemed to really like it. If you’re looking for something like this give this one a try. You won’t be disappointed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great little carrier for any fur baby (up to 20lbs). I have a 4 pound chihuahua that loves getting out in this carrier. I like the backpack style which makes it easy to get around with. More so with a heavier animal. It has lots of openings so the airflow is great. It’s made of sturdy well constructed material. I would recommend this carrier for sure!
