Description
Schedule times two with the Philips Light-Sensing Plug-in Mechanical Timer. The easy-to-use timer is perfect for landscape lighting, seasonal décor and other outdoor fixtures. For increased versatility, it is compatible with LED, CFL and incandescent lights. Light-sensing technology turns on devices at sunset, and simple presets allow operation for 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours, or from dusk to dawn.
The grounded plug only occupies one outlet leaving the second receptacle free for use, and the built-in mounting loop makes hanging the timer near a GFCI outlet convenient. The timer turns any grounded outlet into two timed, grounded outlets, and features a convenient override switch to prevent your settings from cycling when not needed. Q: Will this timer turn off and on automatically when set to a time? For example if I turn it on and set it for 6 hours. Will it turn on at that time everyday and run for only 6 hours?

Q: Is there a setting that does not require natural light?

A: Hello Brianna, thank you for your question. The on/off modes are the only ones that do not use the light sensor, everything else does. We do have other timers that do not use the light sensor feature, but still have dusk to dawn options as well as countdown options. Q: Will this work in a normal indoor outlet?

It has a light sensor that will tell the timer when to go on and off during the dusk to dawn settings. It is weatherproof so it still holds up on cold, winter days. The dusk to dawn feature is awesome. I have backyard lights hooked up to the timer so I can let my dogs outside at night and be able to watch them from inside. That peace of mind and convenience is invaluable. Philips made a top-notch timer. Highly recommended.

The light sensor takes about a minute to detect and activate the timer settings (2-4-6-8 Hours). Even if it's dark and you turn it to one of these settings, it won't activate until about a minute after the sensor kicks in. Some other outdoor plugs can activate a lot quicker, but this one takes about a minute. I initially thought mine was broken when I was testing it. You can test during the day by covering the sensor with your finger and wait a minute, then you'll see it activate the lights.

This Philips Dusk til Dawn Outdoor Countdown Timer was the best addition to my outdoor Christmas display. I love that I don't have to plug them in every night this timer is perfect. I have it on the dusk til dawn setting and it has worked flawless every night!! So happy I got this!

I've tried using the dusk to dawn setting and it turns on whenever. Doesn't sense daylight. 😕 Tried using the hourly timers and it only turns off when the time runs out. Will not automatically turn back on. I have to reset it manually. Waste of money. Surprised by so many positive reviews.

Big disappointment! This doesn’t work. The only setting that works is the manual on/off switch. None of the timer settings work, which defeats the purpose of this purchase!
