A: This particular sku is the base kit, so yes it comes with a power supply.

Q: When a color is selected in the app, are they all the same color, or can a gradient of colors be selected at the same time across the light strip (like faded from yellow on one end to orange on the other)?

A: It is all one color. They just came out with a gradient one but it is $200.

It will allow you to select from many color gradients and if you also purchase a sync box, the light strip will match the colors on your tv screen.

A: It comes with a 3M magic strip on the back that you can peel off to apply to surfaces. Holds for a reasonable amount of time, but It’s reasonably flexible, so if you have your TV mounted, I’d suggest taking a shot at wrapping it around the back of the TV where the mount hooks up. Otherwise, the adhesive it comes with did last for about 5 months stuck to the underside of my desk, then it started to lose some of its hold. I’ve also used mine as under cabinet lighting with basic screw down holds for running wire along the wall. If you use near moisture, I’d suggest getting the outdoor strip for inside, as it’s built to withstand those types of environments and hazards. Either way, Hue is amazing quality regardless of the product!

Got on the clearance rack. Had the older model, never use the tape backing. They are very bright (brighter then the older model) and come with splicer connectors. Used above kitchen cabinets and in the closet that had no lighting. So far so good. Used trimmed plastic cable management clips to mount them. Probably find cheaper brands but there are good sales.

I love these, but unfortunately there's too many issues with the light strips that prevent me from being able to recommend them to people. I love the color options, I love the brightness, I love how everything smoothly integrates into my Smarthome, BUT, the length and adhesive are just AWFUL IMHO. The adhesive is the worst offender, and it being so bad knocks off the 2 points for me. When you pull out the lightstrip on the back, it has the adhesive and then it has individual sections covered with a thin paper. You have to METICULOUSLY pull off each bit of paper one by one to reveal the adhesive. Even if you do manage to get all the individual papers off, the amount of times the adhesive has come off the lightstrip with it is too dang high. I've got about 5 lighstrips, and the adhesive has peeled off with 3 of my light strips. On the event you DO get everything peeled off and the adhesive sticks to the lightstrips, the adhesive refuses to stick to the wall. I can at MAX get a lightstrip adhesive to stick for about 2 days before falling off the wall after cleaning and prepping the wall. I've had to use scotch tape adhesive to attach to the wall and attach the lightstrips to that to make them stick. Honestly, for the price, I can't personally recommend these.

First off, get these over the newer Gradient Ambiance light strips for many reasons. First, and most importantly, these are cuttable AND extendable. You may ask, isn’t it paradoxical to need both? Well, doing a custom under cabinet install with turns, appliance cutouts, etc, and you need to be able to cut to length AND extend the lightstrip. YOU CANNOT DO THAT WITH THE NEWER version (the Gradient) as I painfully $$ came to find out. This version literally comes with a cut-end extender in the box. Second, price. About half the cost of the newer Gradient version. Third, light diffusion. If anyone is wondering, once the light strips are mounted under cabinets, you cannot see the individual LED lights on ANY COLOR OR BRIGHTNESS. I’m doing all caps because I searched hundreds of reviews to find this question out, and never got a clear answer. So, I repeat, once mounted, it turns into a perfect unanimous, continuous source of light for under cabinet lighting needs. Fourth, third party support. Search on Amazon, and you will find tons of 3rd party support for these lights strips. My favorite were #1) Litcessory V4 extenders and #2) MMSD 100 Pack LED Strip Light Mounting Brackets for Outdoor RGBIC LED Strip Light Clips with 202 Screws Suit for 13-14mm Wide IP67/68 Waterproof Strip Lights.

The lights are very bright and customizable. The adhesive may as well not exist. Couldnt even stay on the wall for 15 seconds even after i prepped the surface. Needed to use command strips.

Nice bright lights, very easy to set up (I already had the Hue app and several other Hue lights). Good range of color. Glue to hold it to surfaces is useless. Started falling off back of TV within the hour. Had to use command strips to get the strip to stick.

I didn’t even get around to turning them on because I couldn’t get them to stick to my wall for more than a minute. The adhesive even began to peel off as I took the backing off.

This strip brightens the rest of the room where my other hue lightbulbs don’t reach. It’s also nice to have the lights at mid level instead of from the ceiling. Setting up without the bridge is also great (because blue tooth enabled) and also easy to control with the dimmer switch. It might state hub is required, but there are workarounds if you don’t have workable Wi-Fi. Great system and beautiful colors.

Yes, the product is cool but connecting multiple strips together could not be more difficult. Add to the 32' limit and both of these areas make the product far harder to use than it should be. Second the boxing is so confusing. There is the smart light strip and the smart lightstrip plus. The boxes are identical other than the one word but the product is totally different. I bought a ton of these - 1bout 20 boxes to do a job and I did not realize until after I bought the 20 boxes I had two different products. One brighter than the other. Total fail on packaging. In fact I am still consused as all heck to the differences between the product and am frustrated that I have two different products. I wrote customer service and they were terrible to deal with as well. I once loved Hue but I think there are better options out there these days as they lost their way with early success.
Won't stay stuck.

Baffling product. Very good lights and great length customization utterly ruined by the worst two sided tape. If you get this make sure to get some command strips which is what they should have included. I peeled off the two sided tape thinking the adhesive would be on the lights themselves. No labeling and even after I pulled the tape off I couldn’t figure out how to expose the other side of the adhesive. They charge $100 for this and fall short on the easiest part to get right.

Lasted about a year and then part of the light strip died. Should have gotten something for a fraction of the price. There are plenty of cheaper options and apparently you're not getting better quality with the Philips.

I like the product but one set did not work. I wish that you could buy just the base for when you have extra pieces of light strip. I also wish I could have multiple colors on one strip. They make a fun effect though.

the lights themselves are good, i like that you can adjust brightness without losing saturation but the adhesive stoped sticking to the wall less than a year of having them up. way overpriced for something that wont stay up

Light strip works well. Adhesive for mounting light strip is useless, plan to use some other mounting method. The Hue App (required) is clumsy but once the light is set up in the app it works fine. It's very easy to add new lights to the app.
