I use this headphone for my keyboard/synthesizer and I am amused with the price and built quality. The frequency response is awesome for the price tag.

This is my second pair, i used the shp 2000 but unfortunately broke those. I must say the build quality is good and the sponges are easy to take off and clean. The volume control is flimsy, failed after ~2 yrs of intense use so decided to bypass it completly, im a lot happier now. I bought 1 more pair just in case this will fail but ended up gifting it to my father, he is also happy with it and didnt break it (yet). Overall best quality to price ratio in all headsets i used or tried since the 1990's.

The build quality is poor with too much plastic. My purchase lasted 15 months at which time the expanding over-the head part snapped. It even looks like it is designed to fail in this way as it has just a single lug in the adjuster whereas two lugs would seem more durable. In use the adjusters would slip, needing repeated re-adjustment and the volume control is easily moved out of place accidentally resulting in a loss of volume. The ear pieces make my ears sweat.

Hello J.Bryant, Philips appreciates you taking the time to fill in this review as your words are meaningful. It saddens us to read that you find the build quality poor, and even more saddening that your headphones didn't last longer than 15 months. How exactly did the headband snap off? That is not the lifetime Philips expects either on this product. Rest assured that your words have been forwarded to our technicians in hope that Philips can keep in mind for future make. If you have anything else to share with us, please do not hesitate to reach our support here as well: http://bit.ly/2vFcz9m Thanks for sharing and understanding. Kind regards,

When new, they are excellent but after a short time, 5 months in this latest case, the connections into the headphones are either detached or the the cord breaks.

For the years I have same model but earlier code: SBC HP 250.And after perfect experrience I ordered another two pairs with new signing SHP 2500.Designers constructed this model primary on TV listening. And it does perfectly adding highest and lowest frequency spectre which are poor rensponsed by headphone TV amplifiers.By the chance I have found they are perfect too in recording studio environment.Especially due 6m long OFC cable, volume control on cable and quite good noise isolation,...I use them as controll headphones during mastering process, not because their neutrality, but as simulation of perfect home audio,...

These headphones were a gamble. I was just looking around in a technology shop abroad whilst on holiday looking for a new pair of headphones. I was sceptical about these at first, but when I put on a test pair and played some music, I was completely blown away; I heard absolutely every single minuscule detail of my music, as well as things I never heard before. A quick look at the specs and I was away to the cashier. The next few days I spent rediscovering my music library with this amazing headset. Yes, it may be simple, the cable does get in the way at times, the remote is fiddly but, by Jove, this is the best headset I've ever heard. And for a dirt cheap price I feel is almost unfairly low. When trying headphones in the much higher price list, I'm not jealous because I know that I own a phantom gem everyone overlooks. What this headset excels in that other headsets fall behind in is the fact that it just plays; it doesn't force the very low and high frequencies most headphones would. They provide you a very wide and clear frequency response, meaning that you hear your music as it was intended, with no bass boost and other trickery. This headset brought me to tears of joy many times, and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed with this golden nugget. One thing that really got on my nerves was the volume control. Yes, you can change the volume but it messes with the stereo balance. One day I just took a soldering iron and bypassed it. Now I regret nothing with these headphones.

Average style headphones giving pretty clear sound with medium bass but bass does distort fast when turned up if plugged into home stereo, also if plugging into phone sort of equip then it doesn't go very loud
Nice bass.

This headphone has a nice bass sound. but too bad not suitable for computer/laptop. I mean, if you want to experience great bass quality, use it for mp3player, iPod/iPad/iPhone.

The headphones have good sound properties if the volume cotrol is set to its highest and the audio on the appliance is turned up.
