Q: Functionally, what's the difference between the G2 and G3 brusheads?

submitted by ComfyLaboratorian - 1 year ago
  • A: Actually, the G3 is much more stiff/hard than the G2. Like many other customers, I blew my money on the G3 because it is marketed as "soft".

Q: If this is for receding gums etc. why would the brush head be MEDIUM bristled? I would think that a SOFT and even a "SENSITIVE SOFT" bristle would be more appropriate.

  • A: I am hear looking for new brush heads because I expected "Gum Health" brushes to be soft too... I didn't realize they were medium firmness when I ordered online. They don't make much effort to be clear about that.

Q: Which head has extra soft bristles?

  • A: Hi! The Philips Sonicare S Sensitive Standard toothbrush head HX6053/64 features ultra-soft bristles for gentle, effective cleaning. And the contoured bristles fit the shape of your teeth, for an ultra-sensitive brushing experience.

Q: Why don't they CLEARLY state whether it's hard, medium or soft bristles? I bet even Sonicare workers don't even understand the difference between all of their options. This should be easy. It's not.

This toothbrush head has been shedding bristles into my mouth like crazy. I currently have one stuck in my throat and it is horribly uncomfortable. Checked the other brushes in the pack and they are all shedding too.

The bristles are loose and I cannot use this product without finding less than 3 loose bristles in my mouth. They often get stuck between my teeth and can only be removed through flossing. I even found one stuck in my pajama shirt, they're everywhere! This is extremely uncomfortable and I hope the bristle stuck in my throat is able to dislodge soon.
1 reply from Philips team - 3 months ago

Our family has used Sonicare toothbrushes exclusively for about a decade, and will not be changing things up anytime soon. Battery life has never been a problem during travel, and brush heads are durable and long-lasting. Highest possible recommendation from both our family and our dentists.

Soft but Too Curvy

3 out of 5 stars
Mr Softie - 1 year ago
originally posted on philips.com
After blowing a lot of money on stiff/hard Philips replacement heads I found the G2 which is in fact soft. Many of the Philips heads are described as "soft" but on Philips website they are classified correctly as medium stiffness. Well, that's it for the good news lol. The head is Much smaller than either the Sensitive or G3 heads. It's tiny really. Like many of the Philips heads with hard plastic It will rattle like crazy if you let it hit your teeth. But Worst of All, the brush head is super-curvy so it vibrates a lot when you simply try to lay it flat on your teeth and gums. Suggestions: put a soft plastic cover over the hard plastic, make the brush head a standard size and Greatly Downsize the ridiculous brush curve.
