I just purchased a new package of four bulbs, installed them, and all four flicker randomly when being used from a cold start after about 10 minutes of use. The bulbs are not in an enclosed fixture, they are open to the air. They all flicker, sometimes a bit more quickly and other times just a little bit. The fixture they are being used in is correctly rated for their use. I don’t expect them to last too long, certainly not 13 years. I’m guessing they’ll last the same as the old incandescent bulbs from before the CFL bulb days. Time will ultimately tell. They do dim and are rated to be dimmable and that will help them last longer, but I don’t want to always have it set to half or 2/3 power when I turn on these bulbs. I feel the quality is lacking and the manufacturer is hoping I’m happy with less than mediocre quality.

The color of these Philips UltraDef LED 60w Frosted Soft White bulbs is nice, and the bulbs fit in my older lamps. I will be returning them, however, because they are dimmable rather than 3-way bulbs, which do not change brightness in my 3-way lamps.
