George Herman Ruth, Jr., (February 6, 1895-August 16, 1948) was perhaps the most popular baseball player of all time. The Babe won seven World Series with the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. Ruth's 714 career home runs stood as a record for 39 years, and he was one of the first five players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
