A: Our steamers should not be used over an open flame or to prepare food. They are intended to be used on the top of a woodstove to add moisture (steam) to the air.

It's a beautiful steamer. It came with the handle broken. I called and was told that a new one would be shipped as a replacement. It is a little bigger than I thought it would be, but it's still lovely.

This kettle is beautiful and well made except that the bottom is not flat. Therefore it does not get hot enough on our stove for steam which is why we purchased it. We have a gas stove with soapstone on the top and sides so it may be a problem to this model.

I like the look of the steamer but was disappointed after the first use to already find spots of rust around the opening under the lid and where the knob attaches to the lid. Also, the rim around base seems to keep it from coming to steam as quickly as our previous flat bottomed one on our soapstone wood stove.
Looks pretty, works bad.

Looks okay - as in picture. Does not evaporate that much water as compared to putting a simple pot of water on the stove.
Rust started forming immediately (first day) on the rim of the pot, on the screw of the pot lid.
This is a really thick wall pot (easier to make) and as a result, it doesn't work that well. Good for decoration purposes.

I love this pot, it really adds a nice touch to the fireplace insert. As with anything I order from Plow & Hearth, it is very well made. My husband is not crazy about the fact you have to take the lid off to add water so that's just one of those little things to think about.
I would buy this again.

This wood stove steamer is beautiful and I like how it holds more water than my last one and lasts all night long. I'm just not sure it's giving off as much steam as I'd like because we don't keep our wood stove going full blast. But I still love it!
