Continue your Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield adventure in The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, two new areas to explore that will be added to the Galar region as part of the Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass or Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass! Each area offers a different adventure, where you'll be able to visit the far reaches of the Galar region and meet the people and Pokémon that live there. You'll also see some familiar Pokémon that didn't appear in the Galar region before, a total of over 200 Pokémon. If you buy the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass or Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass, you'll be able to enjoy both The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra as they're released!
The Isle of Armor
The first new adventure unlocked by the Expansion Pass will take place on the Isle of Armor, an island of the Galar region. Many Pokémon make this island their home, living freely amid the lush nature. The island is also home to a dojo for Pokémon battles. Players and their Pokémon will train hard to become stronger under Mustard, the master of this dojo.
The Crown Tundra
The second area unlocked by the Expansion Pass is the snow-swept realm of the Crown Tundra. In this frigid yet beautiful landscape—with its jagged winter mountains and shining, silvery landscape—people live in small communities where they support and rely on one another. A man named Peony will appoint the player as the leader of his exploration team in the Crown Tundra and task them with investigating the reaches of this frozen land. Players will also be able to explore the depths of the Pokémon Dens seen during Max Raid Battles. What’s more, it seems several previously unseen Legendary Pokémon make the Crown Tundra their home.
The Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass is only compatible with the Pokémon Sword game and the Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass is only compatible with the Pokémon Shield game. Please only choose the Expansion Pass for the full game that you own. If you own both the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games and want access to the Expansion Passes for both games, both the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass and the Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass are required. Full version of the game is required to use DLC for that game; sold separately. Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and Nintendo Account required for online features. Q: is expansion pack good for both sword and shield ?
A: When you purchase it, you'll have to specify which game you want it to be, in the Nintendo shop. From there, you need to pick the download corresponding to the game you have: either sword or shield.

Q: My son is asking for the expansion pass for Christmas. He has Pokemon Sword and Shield games already. If I download a code onto my laptop, how do I transfer it to him on his Switch? I am confused. Thanks.
A: When you receive the code you go to the "Nintendo E-shop" app on the switch and find the giftcard/code section where you enter the code. There are some videos on YouTube to help if you need it. Hope this helps!
