Preen Extended Control Weed Preventer stops listed weeds for up to six months per application. It’s labelled for use around 600 plants in perennial flower beds; around groundcovers, trees and shrubs; and in xeriscape settings and rock gardens. Not sure how effective this will be. I give 1 star because on 5/8, I paid $5.99 for delivery on 5/11. Product was delivered 5/14, twice as long as expected. Should have used AMAZON!!!

Used this stuff in the landscaping business. What most company’s use for weed control. Most people don’t know how to properly put it down. Works great if gotten down before the seeds start to germinate

I have been using Preen for years and have been very satisfied. New extended product sounded great. Bought 3 large containers. Spread in May, it is now June and we are over run with weeds. Used one container, 2 large containers ready for our rubbish pickup.

Preen Extended Control works, but maybe not as directed. I used it a year ago according to application and I got weeds, this past year, I used it again, and this time I put a very heavy application down and it worked, virtually no weeds. So my recomendation is good but if they put down a heavy application.

I have been using the regular Preen for many years and always had good results. When I discovered the Preen Extended Control, I was expecting to have good results and saving myself the time to not have to put the product down two times per growing season. I put the Preen Extended Control down in March and followed application instructions as per usual. We live in MD, zone 7a. We have over 2 acres of property and several large flower gardens. My flower gardens have always been beautiful in the past, but this year the weeds are overwhelming! Attached is a photo of just one small area.

I did the same to my garden this year as I’ve done years before starting with the weeding. For the most part my gardens were pretty good controlled from weeds. This year is an exception. I weeded as usual, Then as a preventer, I put on your product. Unfortunately it made my gardens worse. I have never had this many weeds before using this product. And that is just my opinion. I will never use it again.

There has been hardly any new weed growth since then and my lawn looks amazing. Great product with great results. I'm very pleased. What more can I say?

I cleaned my flower beds as I have done in the past before applying the regular preen. This time I used the extended preen and the weeds are growing like crazy. Never had this problem with the regular preen. So, I wasted my money on the extended preen.

There could be various reasons why you are seeing weeds after an application of this product, such as weeds that are not listed that Preen controls, or due to invasive roots or runners such as thistle, grass, etc. Another reason could be that weed seeds already had germinated at the time of application and were not visible for you to remove. Also, this product does not kill any existing weeds but rather creates an invisible barrier that prevents the listed weed seeds from germinating. Another + is that there’s literally no mess to clean up when you’re done nor any mixing needed prior to use.

The instructions were easy to follow and it is easy to use. I really like the pour spout on the top that provides even distribution of the granular.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this product in the flower beds around the front of my house. I applied in early spring although we didnt have much of a spring this year. We struggle with various types of weeds but mainly breakthrough large grasses. The product is easy to use and the canister is very easy to pour out of. We have a lot of other plants in the flower bed so I like that this is safe to use around them. When it was first applied, I could tell the weeds were reduced but after a few months, they were back again. I'm not sure that this is really effective for as long as it says it is or if I didnt apply it exactly right.

Thank you for your review! Our Preen Extended Control Weed Preventer is to be applied to a weed free area around the label listed flowers, plants, trees and shrubs listed on the label. Watered in to activate. There could be various reasons why you are seeing weeds after an application of this product, such as weeds that are not listed that Preen controls, due to invasive roots or runners such as thistle, grass, etc. Another reason could be that weed seeds already had germinated at the time of application and were not visible for you to remove. Also, If heavy rains were received the product may need to be reapplied sooner than the recommended 6 months. We sprinkled and spread pot the Preen weed control, which was super simple thanks to the easy pour spout. So far so good, we haven't seen any growth in between the patio stones so far.
