Q: What are the side effects of AREDS2?

submitted by Lolly - 7 years ago
  • A: Don't know of any. This was prescribed by my doctor for age-related macular degeneration. The vitamins in Preservision help to hold it at bay.

    submitted bydcm65 - 7 years ago
  • A: No side effects. Husband takes it because his eye doctor recommended it due to his macular degeneration. It's a vitamin.

Q: what makes this vitamin any different than ocuvite if you have macular degeneration?

submitted by mazie - 8 years ago
  • A: I am not sure what the actual difference is - I just know that it is the specific one I was told to use by my optometrist and a retina specialist to help prevent macular degeneration.

submitted byMathGal - 8 years ago
  • A: Well my dr recommended preservision for my macular degeneration. But if you look at the labels preservision tends to have more Vit C and E then the Ocuvite. But it depends on which Ocuvite you mean. I looked and there are 3 types. One just has Lutein and Zeaxanthin. So they are more then what the preservision has. But overall the preservision also has more doses since they have more gelcaps then the ocuvite typically does. If you are really wondering which to take I would ask your dr to see which he recommends for your particular type of macular degeneration.

Q: I have some your PreserVision Areds 2 vitamins that are a few months out of date. My question is how long pass the expiration date are they good for pass their expiration date?

submitted by Jerry - 9 years ago
  • A: Most Vitamins or first aid items are good for a year past the expiration. But its always best to contact the company. Bausch and Lomb usually answer any question pretty quickly

submitted bybecky - 9 years ago
  • A: I never use anything past the expiration date, especially OTC medication and prescribed drugs. They say it no longer has any effectiveness past the expiration date, so why take it? By the way, in the future you can google a product and find out about items past the expiration date.

Q: I take one a day vitamins for women over 50. These Preservision vitamins were advised by my eye dr, Are there any conflicts taking these and one a day since both have minerals. Don't want to overdue.

submitted by stripedkitty - 1 year ago
  • A: Hello - The co-use of PreserVision AREDS2 with a multivitamin was studied in a clinical trial of patients with AMD and no side effects were observed. However, you should consider discussing this with your healthcare provider because they will know your specific medical history and if it is appropriate for you to take both.
