Q: How thick are the molds/will the coasters be?

When making coasters with a DIY art kit which is made of resin, silicone and wood, the typical thickness of the finished coaster will be around 3/8 of an inch (approximately 1 cm), with the resin layer itself usually being poured to a thickness of about 1/8 inch within the mold. It works really well and you don’t just have to use flowers. You can make at least 5 coasters with this kit. Sometimes it’s a little bit tacky on the bottoms, it could be due to the ratios of the resin. This happened to just one of the coasters. The lines on the cup aren’t the most visible once the liquid is in there.

Super easy to use. Great if you’re just getting into resin crafting. It would be helpful if they included sanding paper since the edges of the resin are kind of sharp, that was an extra item I had to purchase separately. Also if they provided more than one mixing cup. I needed to keep cleaning it out which is hard to do once the resin starts to set.

We had so much fun making these as gifts for people :) My 2.5 year old son loves to press flowers and it was awesome to find a simple kit to make resin pours and teach him a new process. Super easy to do, just remember that resin is VERY sticky so wear gloves and monitor any really young kids you might be involving.

This was my first time with resin and they turned out beautifully. You are only able to make two at time as there are only 2 coasters and I wish I would have washed out my measuring cup in between uses as it was hard to use the second time, but otherwise it was so fun. Highly recommend

This is a very good start to learn resin art. With the help of my 6 year old, we were able to make 4 coasters using real flowers from the neighborhood. You can literally preserve anything using resin. One trick would be to heat the mixed resin for about 10s in microwave so that it is free from bubbles, clear and hardens faster. But please work with gloves and a mask(if using heat). A heat gun can also be used to get rid of bubbles. Overall very happy with the outcome.

That about sums it up. The resin never hardened. We tried putting it in the sun. We left it for days. It was just a sticky mess in the end. Real bummer and $15 down the drain.

Loved the idea but these didn’t turn out well. I was as exact as possible in my measurements but both coasters still came out very sticky. Bummer as it was going to be a Mother’s Day gift from my kids to their grandma.

It’s fun to try, but not the best kit. Larger flowers are harder to press, so it works best with small ones. If you don’t mix the solutions exactly right, it never cures. I’ve had one coaster turn out okay so far, but I can feel that it’s still slightly soft in some spots. I’m just worried what’s going to happen over time if I give this as a gift

Didn’t cure, even when measuring by weight with a baking scale, not just by the lines. I’m bummed that I wasted materials. But if you are willing to buy your own resin separately, good price for the rest of the kit.

I used shells instead of flowers and the coasters came out beautiful. You have to mix the solution well, I stirred it for 3 min fast and then followed the rest of steps. I used closer to 15 ml of each solution per coaster to ensure my shells were fully submerged and let it sit over night.

This was a cute idea. My daughter loves flowers and I enjoyed picking them with her and pressing them. However, the measuring and mixing was a bit messy for her age and resin is pretty toxic so I had to do the actual project part. It looked like it was going to turn out well but the resin never tried, unfortunately. so we ended up throwing the coasters out. Always sticky. The little flower press portion might make it worth buying though.

Loved how these turned out! Two of the last ones I made did not set even though I thought the two mixing agents were the correct measurements. It is very hard to reuse the plastic mixing cup because residue hardens inside it between batches and makes it hard to correctly measure. In total, I was able to make 6 coasters. I am happy with it! The flower press was easy to use for small flowers and leaves, larger ones did not work well (dandelions did not press well, FYI) I think they look lovely!

So pretty ! I love that the kit includes both the flower press and coaster molds. You need to buy your own flowers and you need smaller flowers for the flower press. The coasters turned out so pretty!

I’d rate 0 stars if possible. Followed all instructions 100%. Made them well before Mother’s Day, never hardened. After 3wks left in a cool dry area, never hardened and actually seemed to soften if them temp in my home rose above the 68-degrees I keep it at. Good concept, poor execution in quality.
