Q: can the feet be removed for washing?

A: Yes. Feet molded with handles. Remove with four Phillips screws.

Q: How deep is the skillet portion of the frypan [without the overly tall cover/lid]? And the cover is plastic? Really?

A: The cooking surface measures about 2.5" deep. The cover is made of a hardy (EverNu™) material that is dent and warp resistant. It will not peel or bend. Q: Does the lid have a vent to allow steam to escape?

A: The cover for the 06620 Presto® electric skillet does not have a vent for steam to escape. However, the lid is not air tight and has room for steam to escape from the bottom of the lid edges. I prefer this type of lid over glass. Perfect size for us. Only negative is, the non stick surface doesn't hold up real well. I just purchased my third one in 5 yrs. As long as the pricing doesn't keep rising, I will continue to replace it.

I bought this so I wouldn't have to use my stove so much in the summer especially. We just made chicken and biscuits to try it out and it worked just fine. And it's a breeze to clean. Love the non-stick bottom also which worked good for browning the chicken. I wish it would have come with a small book of recipes, rather than purchasing their cookbook. We are seniors, married 55 years and this is perfect for a meal and still have leftovers for the next day.
