Q: How well does it work if you have heavy flow? Will I have to replace it more often than the 12 hours indicated?
A: I'd say yes but it all depends on you. I usually change it every 8 hours on my heavier days and so far it seems to work. Or you can just empty it more frequently without changing it. Hope this helps because these are worth the try.
submitted byCristy - 7 years agoA: OMG. Do not reuse these. Cristy says to "empty it ... without changing it." No no no! From the instructions, "Never reuse Instead, since doing so may expose you to the risk of v*ginal infection." (this form won't let me use that word with the "a" in it). FWIW, I use them for 12 hours even on my heaviest days. If they are very full, though, and your muscles push it out of place (like with a sneeze) they could shift so that they leak ... so if you're super heavy, you might want to change it more often. I have only had one leak (because of a sneeze) once in the ~15 years I've been using them.
submitted byAM in California - 6 years agoA: On my heaviest day, mine leak every single time, so I used to wear a panty liner as backup. Now, I use organic cotton tampons on my one heavy day/night so I don't have to worry about leakage. When I'm not home, I don't want to think about changing these in a public restroom since you should wash your hands BEFORE removing & inserting a new one. Don't get me wrong; every other day of my period, I love these!
submitted byDoc - 6 years agoA: If you bear down you can “empty” it without removing it, whenever you go to the bathroom on heavy days. You just have to make sure it’s in place again after.
submitted byJane - 6 years agoA: On my heavy days I change it every 8 hours. Still way better than every 3-4 with tampons & pads. If you do not insert it all the way in it will leak. A lot of negative reviewers say it leaked even though they are confident they put it in correctly. You cannot just stick it in and up behind the P bone. The best way I know how to describe it is, push it all the way in until it feels like your V swallowed it. People also complain that it is too hard to remove. It is if you do not push it out with your muscles. You have to bear down like you are pushing to go to the bathroom. This will empty some if the menses too so its less messy when you pull it out. Keep it level and pull out, almost upwards. Using nitrile or latex gloves and baby wipes helps with cleanup. (I am disappointed in Target for not allowing the V or P word to be used. Its a body part, not inappropriate language.)

Q: These are not reusable, correct?
A: Softdisc is not reusable. After 12 hours of wear, remove the disc, dispose of it, and only insert a new one.
submitted bySoftdisc - 5 years agoBrand expertA: NO. These are NOT reusable. No. No. No. Emma3457 is giving BAD info. From the packaging, "Never reuse Instead, since doing so may expose you to the risk of v*ginal infection." (the form won't let me use that word with the "a" in place and says my answer contains inappropriate language, haha.)
submitted byAM in California - 6 years agoA: Correct. But people reuse them on the same day.

Q: It says you can use them during s*x, will the guy feel it inside you?
A: Softdisc is safe to wear during intercourse and comfortable for both you and your partner because, the disc sits in the vaginal fornix and collects menstrual fluid directly from the base of the cervix. As a result of that, the vaginal canal is free of obstruction. The vagina expands and elongates during arousal as well as intercourse, so if the disc is inserted properly, neither partner should be able to feel the disc.

Q: can you wear this when riding a horse without it leaking or spilling? I have to do at least 2-3 horses a day and my pad always ends up tearing.
A: Yes! We actually have many users who ride horses and use Softdisc with success! You just need to make sure the disc is in place fully covering the cervix.

Q: Is it easy to remove as well as inserting it.
A: Hi Dee! Both insertion and removal of the disc is much easier than it may seem. To insert Softdisc, you'd pinch the disc and push it down and back into the vaginal fornix. For removal, with a clean finger you'd just bear down a bit, reach in and pull the disc out. We have tons of information available on our website and your discs always come with a set of instructions.
